It's an early start at Lingfield Park on Wednesday with their eight-race Polytrack offering up and going from 11:30.

They race at the Surrey venue all the way through until 15:30 in the afternoon and we've picked out our three to follow on the card.

Lingfield Tips

  • 12:35 – Clear Storm @ 2/1
  • 13:45 – Ithra @ 25/1
  • 14:55 – Ninth Life @ 15/8

12:35 – Clear Storm @ 2/1

This novice contest over a mile is restricted to horses with no more than three runs and those with track experience don't set the bar too high.

The newcomers aren't jumping off the page, though Wannabeawallaby does command a close look, and so CLEAR STORM might be good enough to open her account on second start for William Haggas.

The Storm The Stars filly was prominent in the market for her debut at Kempton last month but was caught out by her inexperience. She was slow from the gates and out the back throughout, but did her best work in the home straight as she eventually finished sixth of 14.

She should take a step forward for that experience and finds herself in a weak contest on paper now.

13:45 – Ithra @ 25/1

A sprint handicap over the six furlongs here and one in which ITHRA can have a say for Archie Watson.

The Ardad filly shaped with promise on her second start for Alice Haynes at Yarmouth in May, finishing second over 7f in maiden company.

She had two more starts over further for that yard on turf before switching to Watson's string and she came within three-quarters of a length on her stable bow over this trip at Kempton in October after a short break.

The frontrunner was third next time at Wolverhampton on handicap bow and then slightly disappointing at Newcastle since, though the course may not have played to her strengths in front there.

The assessor has dropped Ithra a further 2lb for that and a pair of first-time blinkers are added. She might be capable of getting back on track in what looks a wide-open contest.

14:55 – Ninth Life @ 15/8

The newly-formed alliance of Dr Richard Newland & Jamie Insole is up and running and they've already been amongst the winners.

Irish import NINTH LIFE is worth a second look for them in this Class 5 event over a mile-and-a-quarter at Lingfield.

The Kitten's Joy gelding has seven runs under her belt in Ireland, alternating between 7f/1m for the first six of those before producing her best to date when runner-up over 1m2½f at Dundalk in early October.

He's officially rated 2lb higher now for this British racecourse bow but he did race a bit freely in that contest at the Co Louth venue and, now hooded, if he can settle a bit better, there is a good chance of further improvement over this trip with in-form Rossa Ryan in the plate.
