There are five midweek meetings taking place across the UK and Ireland on another busy Wednesday of racing action.

Jumps fare is from Lingfield, Newbury and Ludlow, while there are all-weather meetings at Kempton and Dundalk. We're focused on finding winners for our Lingfield Park tips, where they race from 11:55-15:22 and we have picked out three contenders to follow.

Lingfield Park Tips - Wednesday, December 18

  • 11:55 – Roaring Conquest @ 5/4
  • 14:12 – Eyed @ 5/2
  • 15:22 – Snapius @ 11/4

11:55 – Roaring Conquest @ 5/4

A pre-midday start for the Lingfield card and the opening Maiden Hurdle may go the way of ROARING CONQUEST for Olly Murphy and title-chasing rider Sean Bowen.

The Doyen gelding won an Irish point-to-point back in May and made his Rules bow last month at Uttoxeter (2m4f, soft) after 183 days off.

He was held up by Bowen and eventually finished fourth, chasing home the front three in the market. The 120-rated Lud'or was third and the front two looked like promising sorts.

If he builds on that run, Roaring Conquest has every chance of going well and landing this prize. Jackstell was second at Huntingdon (2m, good to soft) last month and rates a danger on that showing, but Murphy's charge is open to plenty of progress.

14:12 – Eyed @ 5/2

There should be more to come from the Hughie Morrison-trained EYED. He went 0-6 over fences last season but had a second wind operation over the summer and showed improved form when second-best at Wincanton (2m4f, good) on his seasonal return in October.

He was just outbattled by Camino Rocio that day, with the winner going on to complete a hat-trick via wins at Huntingdon and Market Rasen since, giving the form a rock-solid look.

Eyed, meanwhile, also went to Market Rasen (2m5½f, good) in November and justified favouritism in smooth style. He's been raised 9lb for that success but it might not be enough to ground his ambitions, particularly with a likely chance of further improvement to come at this longer trip.

15:22 – Snapius @ 11/4

Trust House won at Leicester last time for Murphy and Bowen and can go well again, but he has a trio of in-form contenders to worry about now in the shape of Pyrotechnic, Blue Universe and SNAPIUS.

Each of that trio finished second last time out and it is the James Owen-trained Snapius that is taken to go one better.

He was a fair sort on the Flat for James Nash in Ireland and hasn't been with this trainer too long. He didn't show much on the all-weather/turf in four Flat starts but hasn't taken long to show more over hurdles.

He was second-best at Leicester (1m7½f, heavy) this month on his second start back in this code, denied only by the progressive winner Hara Kiri, who was returning from a break to complete a hat-trick of wins.

Snapius is 2lb higher here but still looks to hold a strong chance off this mark based on the best of his Irish hurdles form.
