Lingfield Park Racecourse

A busy Tuesday awaits on the racing front. One of six meetings is an evening affair at Lingfield, with the action at the Surrey venue set for 18:30-21:00 on both surfaces - Polytrack and turf.

Our three Lingfield Park tips includes a runner for dual-purpose trainer Alan King who can put his stamina to good use under in-form rider Rossa Ryan.

Lingfield Park Tips

  • 18:30 - Smart Charger @ 5/2
  • 20:00 - Alashos @ 5/4
  • 20:30 - Warriors Dream @ 6/5

18:30 - Smart Charger @ 5/2

Just shy of two miles is the trip ahead of the contenders lining up in Lingfield's opener and it is a contest in which Fictional is likely to start favourite after he won at Kempton (1m3f) on the Polytrack three weeks ago for trainer Richard Hughes.

The booking of Oisin Murphy here is an eye-catcher but stamina must be proven and, in that regard, the claims of SMART CHARGER for Alan King and weekend Group 1-winning rider Rossa Ryan are preferred.

Ryan gave Bluestocking a peach of a ride to win the Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh on Saturday, his first top-level success in his native Ireland.

Smart Charger won over 1m6f at Yarmouth in May on second start for King having joined from Tony Carroll and looked a stayer to be on the right side of in doing so.

Back at the seaside venue in one start since, he was perhaps blunted by soft conditions. He is a mere 2lb above his previous winning perch and is worth giving another chance to now.

Today's Horse Races

20:00 - Alashos @ 5/4

They move from the Polytrack to the turf as the evening wears on at Lingfield and James Horton's ALASHOS looks the one to side with in the maiden over 6f which is race four on the card.

The Showcasing colt was an 80/1 poke on debut at Leicester (6f, good to soft) early last month and ran accordingly but he delivered a quick jolt of improvement on second start, denied by a short head at Brighton (6f, good to firm) a fortnight ago.

Adam Farragher was on board for that run and they looked to have done enough when repelling Gold Medallist inside the final furlong, only for Miss Nifty to finish with a flourish on the outside and put her nose in front right on the line.

Alashos has to go down as an unlucky loser after being mugged on the line there and any further improvement on this third start will make her difficult to stop.

20:30 - Warriors Dream @ 6/5

Recent Ffos Las runner-up Yellow Pages has valid claims of going one better for Archie Watson, with Hollie Doyle taking over on board, but she could be foiled on this occasion by husband Tom Marquand on WARRIORS DREAM.

The Oasis Dream colt has shown more than enough in four starts to suggest he'll prove up to winning races.

He was well held in a Newmarket novice (1m, good) in May on turf bow, but improved on that showing to be a close fifth in a handicap at Newbury (1m, good to firm) last month.

Those that finished around him in that contest have combined for two wins and two seconds from four runs since and the form looks solid.

Eased 2lb, Warriors Dream may take the requisite step forward in this five-runner field to open his account.
