Lingfield park racecourse

There are six Thursday meetings down to take place across Britain and Ireland, with an even mix of jumps and all-weather action. Thurles, Warwick and Wincanton provide afternoon jumps fare, while there is all-weather action from Lingfield early in the day and from Southwell and Wolverhampton later.

They race at Lingfield from 11:30 to 15:38 with a nine-race programme on the Polytrack and we have picked out three runners to follow.

Today's Horse Races

11:30 Lingfield – Sea Stream @ 15/2

The opener at Lingfield will be one for the early birds and this 1m4f Class 5 handicap can see SEA STREAM take a step forward on her handicap bow for Charlie Hills.

The Sea The Stars filly hasn't been spotted since finishing a fading fourth at Bath (1m2f, good) in a novice heat in May. She had previously shown bits of promise in two runs in novice/maiden company at Wolverhampton and Chelmsford.

She was given an attacking ride by Billy Loughnane in the Bath contest and perhaps paid for her early exertions.

She has mixed it with some decent rivals in three runs and an opening mark of 68 could underestimate her latent ability as she goes handicapping over a longer trip and with the Hills team in excellent form.

12:30 Lingfield – Sonic Si @ 2/1

Dave Loughnane is another trainer who has his team in good fettle and he too saddles a handicap debutant of some interest in SONIC SI.

The gelded son of Advertise was consistent in four runs in the spring. He was second at Southwell on Tapeta on his debut and then third at Leicester (5f, soft), third at Chepstow (5f, soft) and second at Catterick (5f, good to soft) in three turf runs.

There was plenty of encouragement in how he went about his business and in particular the Chepstow maiden in May saw him mixing with some talented rivals in Archie Watson's Vingegaard and Richard Hannon's Cayman Tai. That pair flourished in stronger company across the summer months.

Sonic Si tackles this Class 5 nursery from an opening mark of 74 and Laura Pearson's mount could have plenty to offer if ready to roll after 174 days off, with the recent stable form a positive pointer in that regard.

14:00 Lingfield – Lahina Bay @ 14/1

A Class 5 7f fillies' handicap is race six on the Lingfield card and the consistent LAHINA BAY makes appeal for the Rachel Cook and John Bridger training alliance.

The four-year-old filly won on turf at Windsor (6f, good to firm) in July in the hands of Rhys Clutterbuck and has run some good races in defeat since, including when third at Kempton over 6f this month on her return to the all-weather.

That was only her fifth start on a synthetic surface and she could have more to offer in this sphere.

She has done the bulk of her racing over 6f and needs to prove she can get this extra furlong but Lingfield's Polytrack is perhaps as good a place as any to see it out. Time is still on her side and she races here from just 3lb above her last winning mark, having been narrowly denied off this rating at Goodwood in August.
