There’s a pair of meetings in Ireland on Thursday with Leopardstown and Tramore dovetailing to provide plenty of action.
There’s a bumper eight-race card at Leopardstown, which includes the Group 3 Bahrain Turf Club Desmond Stakes run over a mile at 18:05. The going for Thursday’s card is expected to be good-good to firm in places, while the meeting will run between 16:35 and 20:05.

There are 18 runners set to go to post in the seven-furlong handicap at 17:05, but Amanirenas looks to hold standout claims. Michael Garssick’s runner powered home to score comfortably at Fairyhouse last time out, and that victory came from a pretty bad draw in 18. The manner of that triumph suggests that the four-year-old is without doubt a filly in top form, and she is also a two-time course-and-distance winner.
The forecast conditions look perfect for Amanirenas, and a revised mark of 74 is unlikely to stop the four-year-old, considering last month’s emphatic Fairyhouse victory.
18:05 – Villanova Queen @ 3/1
Villanova Queen’s victory in the ultra-competitive Kensington Palace Fillies’ Handicap at Royal Ascot suggests she’s worth a crack at group company, and the Jessica Harrington-trained runner looks a play in the Group 3 Bahrain Turf Club Desmond Stakes at 18:05.
The four-year-old has been given a nice break following her Ascot victory, and there is hope for further improvement from the 104-rated filly.
Villanova Queen won at this track and trip on good ground in her two-year-old season, indicating that today’s race conditions should be perfect, and she looks set for a big performance.
19:05 – Get Set Jet @ 20/1
Get Set Jet is a lightly-raced three-year-old, and there could be more to come from Ross O’Sullivan’s charge in the one-mile-and-one-furlong handicap at 19:05.
This is just Get Set Jet’s fourth start in a handicap, and there was certainly plenty of promise when staying on for third at this track in June.
The three-year-old was swiftly stepped up to the mile-and-a-quarter trip, but they may have tested the inexperienced gelding a little too much and a little too quickly. Today’s trip looks tailor-made, and Get Set Jet looks ready to take off.
