The sole Irish meeting on Thursday is a competitive looking evening card at Leopardstown which features some decent maidens and tough handicaps to solve.

There are eight races on the card that kicks off at 16.45 and concludes at 20.30, and the going is set to be good, although there’s a few millimetres of rain forecast in the hours before racing. I've picked out a trio of selections for my Leopardstown tips on Thursday.

Leopardstown Tips - Thursday, June 13

  • 17:20 - Golden Ocean @ 9/4
  • 18:30 - Eastern Wind @ 18/1
  • 19:00 - Lauroline @ 4/1

17:20 - Golden Ocean @ 9/4

There are a few that have run to similar levels in the fillies’ and mares’ seven-furlong maiden on the card, with little to separate the standard setters.

The likes of Ebanza, Campari Soda and Expecting A Star have all shown ability but with just one run under her belt, GOLDEN OCEAN might be the one worth siding with.

This daughter of Blue Point ran a belter at Naas on debut, travelling well into the contest before stumbling near the two-furlong pole. Michael O’Callaghan’s filly then struggled to get a clear run at things down on the inside.

She still looked a bit green towards the end of that contest but stayed on nicely, giving the impression that the penny had dropped too late in the day and also suggesting that she would be much better for the run.

She showed enough that day to suggest she doesn’t have much to find and with improvement on the cards and Colin Keane booked in the saddle, she ought to go well for a yard that excels with their younger horses.

18:30 - Eastern Wind @ 18/1

This contest looks competitive, despite the relatively small field but one that looks capable of going well at an each-way sort of price is EASTERN WIND.

She was a course and distance winner last season and now finds herself 4lb below her last winning mark following a few low-key efforts. However, there were minor signs of a revival last time out and a return to this venue could be in her favour.

The rain expected on the day of the race also plays to her strengths, particularly given that most of these rivals want it quicker and she can outrun her forecast double figure odds.

19:00 - Lauroline @ 4/1

Colin Keane has a nice book of rides on Thursday evening and one of his better chances is the mare, LAUROLINE.

She’s still a maiden after 14 runs but has been hinting that her turn is near of late, hitting the frame in five of her last six starts.

There’s a chance she’ll come on for last week’s yard debut and she’s got a handy draw down in stall four; this could be a good opportunity for her.
