Leicester races scaled

It’s a midweek six-pack of action from British and Irish racecourses on Wednesday and amongst it is a six-race evening card from Leicester. They race at the Midlands venue from 17:35-20:20, with conditions forecast to be 'good-good to firm in places'.

Our trio of Leicester tips include the consistent Oceanic Wonder for Tim Easterby as she looks to notch a first career win.

Leicester Tips - Wednesday, July 24

  • 17:35 – Oceanic Wonder @ 3/1
  • 18:10 - Sioux Warrior @ 7/2
  • 20:20 - Grecian God @ 5/1

Horse Racing Odds

17:35 – Oceanic Wonder @ 3/1

Consistency has been a trait for Tim Easterby's OCEANIC WONDER of late, with placed efforts in three of her last four starts, and the Pastoral Pursuits filly may now go ahead and shed the maiden tag in the Reddington Homes Handicap over an extended mile.

She was third home at Wetherby (1m, good) in June behind an impressive winner in John L Sullivan and then occupied the same berth at Beverley over slightly shorter at the start of this month.

She sported first-time cheekpieces in that contest last time and was staying on well in the final furlong. The extra yardage is a positive now and the fast ground is the sort of surface on which she has excelled this season.

She is down to a career-low mark of 51 for this latest start and has strong claims in a field where the majority of her rivals have been struggling for form. Rinnovati and Tres Chic are the exceptions, though even they have been underwhelming in their most recent endeavours.

18:10 - Sioux Warrior @ 7/2

A novice event over the minimum trip in which Caribbean Wind, State Of Madness and Shibuya Storm all have chances on their form shown to date but it could be that SIOUX WARRIOR improves past them all.

The Charlie Hills-trained gelding showed ability in three turf runs last year, posting figures of 223 at Doncaster, Chester and Chepstow over 5f/6f in decent company.

He was fancied on his return from 301 days off at Southwell in April and ran well for a long way before giving way. That maiden has thrown up a host of subsequent winners and it was probably a warm race of its kind.

Off the back of that run, Sioux Warrior has undergone a wind op and is fancied to show more back on turf. He may have the requisite speed to handle this drop in trip and the promise shown last year is worth recalling as he returns to the grass.

20:20 - Grecian God @ 5/1

The finale is the 6f Kube - Leicester's Premier Exhibition Venue Handicap and it can go the way of GRECIAN GOD.

Mark Usher's three-year-old finished well in recent appearances at Kempton over 6f, twice coming home well to finish third.

In his latest start, he was held up last and came through the pack to be clear in third, but the front two were always handily placed and dominated the finish. If he gets a good pace to aim at here, Jason Watson's partner could be up to the challenge of running them down late in the piece.
