Grand National Betting Odds

The 2024 Aintree Grand National is now coming very much into view and the team at Betfred Insights’ take a look at the betting market for the big race on Saturday with the Tuesday instalment of our Latest Grand National Odds.

Betfred are still on the Ante-Post as we await the final field of 34 and with the rain continuing to lash down in the North West, the chances of a defection or two before Thursday’s final deadline feels high and that might be very important for one of the betting favourites…

The betting market is holding steady this Tuesday morning, with 2023 winner Corach Rambler continuing to sit top at relatively short odds of 11/2. Lucinda Russell’s 10-year-old looked strong in the Cheltenham Gold Cup at the Festival last month and that run pushed him back to being the betting favourite, a spot that he has yet to relinquish.

I Am Maximus for Willie Mullins comes in next at 8/1 having comprehensively beaten the third-favourite Vanillier by 14 lengths last time out in the Bobbyjo Chase over at Fairyhouse. Both horses are going to be well fancied come Saturday afternoon and I don’t think there is any expectation that either will drift too much in the betting.

One horse who continues to see money and has now joined Vanillier at 10/1 is Meetingofthewaters. This seven-year-old has been allocated a relatively low weight by the handicapper and despite not jumping with fluency in the Ultima down at Cheltenham, he continues to creep up the market and could well end up pushing the other top Mullins horse in I Am Maximus in the market.

Edit: No sooner as I went to upload this betting market update, Meetingofthewaters made the move and is now 8/1 joint-second favourite with I Am Maximus. This young horse continue to attract support and has gone from 12s to 8s since the weekend. Certainly your biggest market mover of the past few days.

Mr Incredible sits at 12/1 before a trio at 14s, including one horse who currently isn’t even in the field. Scottish Grand National winner Kitty’s Light will attract plenty of money should one more horse defect, as he’s currently the first alternate. Watch this space closely as both Galvin and Stattler could well be pulled out due to the conditions and if so, this is one to watch closely. Mahler Mission and Panda Boy both sit at the same price.

Classy Mare Limerick Lace can be backed at 16s to be the first female horse since 1951 to win the Grand National and then Minella Indo sits at 18/1. He is Henry De Bromhead’s top chance, so there is an expectation that Rachael Blackmore will get the ride and if that is confirmed, the money will start flowing in for the 2021 Cheltenham Gold Cup winner.

We’ll continue to monitor the betting market closely and provide daily updates and the latest market movements ahead of the 2024 Aintree Grand National.
