National header possibility 2025

The Grand National is just a day away and the market continues to chop and change the closer we get to the big race.

There's been significant movements over the past 24 hours and I've provided an update on the latest Grand National odds at Betfred.

Latest Grand National Odds

*odds correct at time of publication

I Am Maximus @ 11/2

Last year's Grand National hero I Am Maximus has been extremely well-backed over the past 24 hours to retain his crown.

The nine-year-old is now Betfred's clear favourite at 11/2 to do the honours for Willie Mullins, who enjoyed a stellar Thursday courtesy of four winners, and legendary owner JP McManus. Paul Townend, who will be doing the steering on I Am Maximus, rode three of those.

It's going to be difficult for the son of Authorized to repeat the feat off eight pounds higher, but he was highly-impressive 12 months ago and ought to make a bold bid.

Grand National - Winner I Am Maximus

Iroko @ 15/2

Betfred's second favourite at time of publication is another sporting McManus' green and gold silks - Iroko for Oliver Greenall & Josh Guerriero.

The seven-year-old, who will be ridden by Betfred ambassador Jonjo O'Neill Jr, has been working backwards from the Grand National and the vibes around him are very strong.

He's leapfrogged the aforementioned Stumptown in the market this Friday morning and it'd be no surprise to see him shorten further as we get closer to the off.

Grand National - Winner Iroko

Stumptown @ 8/1

Man-of-the-moment Gavin Cromwell, victorious in the Cheltenham Gold Cup last month with Inothewayurthinkin, is responsible for several prominent in the Grand National market and the shortest of those is Stumptown.

The eight-year-old has thrived since switching to Cross Country races, himself winning at the Festival, and he could hardly be in better form heading to Merseyside.

He's been popular with punters over the last week or so and is staying solid in the latest betting at around the 8/1 mark.

Grand National - Winner Stumptown

Odds correct at time of publishing.

Perceval Legallois @ 10/1

One of the big movers over the past 48 hours or so has been Perceval Legallois for Gavin Cromwell and, you guessed it, JP McManus.

The eight-year-old has been shortening gradually and given connections it wouldn't be a great surprise were he to reach single figures.

Grand National - Winner Perceval Legallois

Odds correct at time of publishing.

Hewick @ 11/1

One that is already proving popular in the betting and in my opinion will continue to do so is Hewick.

The 10-year-old famously cost just €850 and went on to win a King George among other big races. He's trained by a big personality in John 'Shark' Hanlon and importantly the horse is one who will love the drying conditions.

Keep an eye on him overnight.

Grand National - Winner Hewick

Odds correct at time of publishing.

Others to note

Intense Raffles - my main tip for the Grand National - is on the slide. He was as short as 7/1 a week ago and is 14/1 as of Friday morning.

Kandoo Kid, the first-string for 14-time Champion Trainer Paul Nicholls, has been backed into 18/1 and Minella Indo into 20/1 after confirmation the highly-popular Rachael Blackmore will be on board.

Grand National - Winner Minella Indo

Odds correct at time of publishing.
