Kempton park all-weather

With four British and Irish meetings taking place across Wednesday, there's lots of racing action to cater for all tastes.

Amongst it will be an all-weather card from Kempton Park, where they have eight races from 17:00-20:30.

We've picked out a trio to follow at the Surrey venue, including the mare Suffrajet who won well at the venue in December and had excuses when last seen at Wolverhampton.

Kempton Park Tips

  • 17:30 - Emorcee @ 11/1
  • 18:00 - King's Vanity @ EVS
  • 19:00 - Suffrajet @ 15/2

17:30 - Emorcee @ 11/1

Formerly trained by David Marnane in Ireland, Emorcee is having his first start for Robert Stephens in the mile handicap and he is fancied to get off the mark at the first time of asking on British debut.

The four-year-old son of Elzaam has some eye-catching all-weather form in the book, having chased home the now 102-rated Broadhurst of the Aidan O'Brien yard in a 7f maiden at Dundalk last April.

Winless in 11 starts in Ireland, Emorcee has certainly hit the woodwork a few times, including when second in a mile handicap at the Galway Festival in August, and narrowly denied when beaten in a 6f claimer at Dundalk when last seen in September.

Emorcee is running off a lenient mark of 64 on his British handicap debut, and with Aidan Keeley taking off a further 3lb in the saddle, he must enter calculations if he's fit and ready to go.

18:00 - King's Vanity @ EVS

Sir Mark Prescott's Alexandretta has hit the frame on all six career starts without success thus far so is proving expensive to follow, and that leaves the door open for a wager on King's Vanity in the 7f novice stakes.

The well-bred son of Kingman was in need of the run when fifth in a Newcastle mile novice in November, but he got the better of the reopposing Alexandretta when the pair met at Lingfield this month.

Heavily backed all day, King's Vanity went off the 10/11 favourite and proved too strong for Prescott's filly in the closing stages. The runner-up has a 4lb swing in the weights with the selection factoring in William Carver's claim, but Andrew Balding's runner still looks a class above.

19:00 - Suffrajet @ 15/2

Moving on to the 1m4f handicap which is a very competitive heat on paper, Charlie Johnston's Suffrajet is taken to find her way back to the winner's enclosure.

The Golden Horn mare had a troubled passage but showed a lot of guts and determination when powering home to score here over 1m3f in December, with two subsequent winners coming out of the race.

Surrfajet ran another good race at Wolverhampton when last seen, and despite finishing fifth, she got a bad bump when she was trying to mount her effort so that run can be excused. Only 2lb above her last winning mark, she still looks well handicapped.
