They go out eight times at Kempton on Wednesday for what should be a decent evening card on the AW in Surrey. The opener is an Apprentice Handicap over a mile at 17:28, and they run through to a 1m4f Handicap at 21:00.

It is worth noting that Betfred are paying out four places on the Handicap at 19:30 and three spots on the closer, while the 20:30 provides punters the chance to grab a free bet if their selection finishes second. Among our selection is a Charlie Hills filly who returns for her second run, while Rage of Thunder is an interesting inclusion in the penultimate contest.

Today's Horse Races

17:05 - Brize Norton @ 6/4

Ralph Beckett may have plenty to smile about after the first race when BRIZE NORTON competes in a novice stakes ran over seven furlongs.

The three-year-old made his debut in August 2024, finishing fifth at Kempton. He was seen on two other occasions before the end of the year, finishing fourth and third at Salisbury before being gelded at the end of October.

Connections have clearly felt he needed time to settle down and grow and he now looks primed to kick on as part of Beckett's first-class stable.

Brize Norton has been drawn on the rail, which is a huge help at Kempton, and rival Believe the Storm has to concede plenty of weight, so Beckett's mount is the one to side with.

17:40 - Deira Storm @ 9/4

Trainer Owen Burrows has won two races from his last nine starts at the time of writing and he will expect to improve that record when DEIRA STORM competes over seven furlongs in the second race of the day at Kempton.

The three-year-old was last seen at Wolverhampton in December and he caught the eye when finishing second to Well Enough over seven furlongs.

He was a little green on debut and made a few errors on the turn for home, and without that, Deira Storm's team would have been celebrating a win.

Burrows' mount will receive a whopping 9lb off Chelmsford winner Cosi Bello on Wednesday and that should be too much of an advantage for Deira Storm.

18:10 - Opening Bat @ 9/4

Harry Charlton's decision to book jockey Billy Loughnane could be a stroke of genius on Wednesday as OPENING BAT tries to shed the maiden tag.

The three-year-old endured an inconsistent debut season in 2024, finishing seventh at Salisbury and Chelmsford and then sixth at Newmarket.

Connections decided to geld Opening Bat in December before he then impressed at Bath on his seasonal reappearance.

Despite making a few errors, Opening Bat did enough to finish fourth and the booking of Loughnane should keep him on the straight and narrow for Wednesday's one-mile battle.
