I Am Maximus Grand National Odds 2024: Big time contender has win aspirations

As we continue going through all of the horses running in the 2024 Grand National, next up we hit on a Willie Mullins-trained eight-year-old who has zipped up the betting market in the past month or so, and that is I Am Maximus.

Had you been betting on the Grand National Ante Post market then you could have got 25/1 on I Am Maximus before his very impressive run in the Bobbyjo Chase over at Fairyhouse towards the end of February. That 14-length victory certainly raised some eyebrows and saw punters lumping on his chances of impressing at Aintree.

This grey of course has enjoyed a very good record at the Irish track having also tasted victory in the Drinmore and the 2023 Irish Grand National. His record away from the course though is a touch concerning, having only won one of the other 10 races to go along with his 100-per-cent record at Fairyhouse.

Punters though don’t seem to see that as an issue and he’s set to take to the track for the first time outside of Ireland on Grand National Day as he looks to be the first horse since Numbersixvalverde in 2006 to complete the Irish and Aintree Grand National double.

Speaking of that particular double, the Bobbyjo Chase was named after a horse that did exactly that, he also won over at Aintree a year after winning the Fairyhouse edition of the race. I’m not saying, I’m just saying.

Trainer Willie Mullins says that he believes this horse is getting better with every run and that the Cheltenham Gold Cup is a very real possibility in his future. That is for 2025 and beyond however, and he’s set to line up as one of the betting favourites for the Aintree Grand National this year.
