Hyland Grand National Odds 2025: Henderson has every chance with this 8-y-o

Another scratch opened up a spot in the Grand National field early on Monday morning and it is one of the betting favourites, Hyland, who has suddenly secured his position on the start line.

Form has certainly been trending in the right direction with a solid 12 months or so overall behind him, but does he have what it takes to win Saturday’s big race? Let’s look at Hyland’s Grand National Odds and recent form in his horse profile…

Nicky Henderson and Hyland’s connections will be giddy that this eight-year-old has made his way into Saturday’s race as they know victory is certainly not out of the question.

A spectacular year or so has seen his stock rise, but his handicap has been kept relatively low. Last time out he was second in a Class I at Kempton Park. Now, on the face of it, finishing runner-up when 11/4 shouldn’t be all that encouraging, but Katate Dori ran a superb race that day and not many were going to beat him.

Hyland, though, still kept in strong and was 11 lengths clear of third. That result came on the back of another runner-up spot, this time, however, in the Kauto Star Novices’ Chase where the 4/6 favourite that day - The Jukebox Man - was always unlikely to be beaten. This horse kept him very much honest, ending up just two-and-a-half lengths down. Importantly, yet again, he kept on well.

Three wins from four throughout the latter part of the year has certainly seen his stock trend in the right direction. His trainer calls him an ‘out-and-out stayer’ and with good ground expected at Aintree for the weekend, he should get the conditions that suit him best.

The team are all in agreement that despite him being a novice chaser, the Grand National is the right spot for him. It may be a big call, but all the signs are pointing towards Hyland being a legitimate contender for the Grand National. He has plenty of good form behind him, has no stamina questions, and has all the potential to be the one who finally gives Nicky Henderson that first win in the world’s most famous steeplechase.
