The 2024 Aintree Grand National takes place on Saturday afternoon at 16:00, and it is without doubt the race that stops the nation. Corach Rambler stormed home for victory in 2023, and at the time of writing, he's the favourite to defend his crown.

Below is everything you need to know about how to place a bet on the Grand National with Betfred.

You can either bet online or head into one of our 1,300 UK shops to place a bet on the Grand National. The choice is yours at Betfred.

However, in order to place a bet online, you'll need an account with us.

  • Visit betfred.com in your web browser or download the app
  • Click on the “Sign Up” or “Register” button
  • Accurately fill in the registration form with your personal information, set up a username and password

When registering an account with Betfred, a promo code can be added on the ‘Settings’ step of the registration form, once all steps that proceed it have been completed.

You can set a daily, weekly or monthly deposit limit on the ‘Settings’ step of the registration form, once all steps that precede it have been completed. This can be changed within the Responsible Gambling section upon completion of registration but a 24-hour cooling off period will occur before the new limit is implemented.

You may also be eligible to qualify for our welcome offer - please see our T&Cs for further details.

Where can I find the racecard for Aintree?

Visit our Horse Racing page and check you’re on the ‘UK & Irish Races’ section. ‘Aintree’ will appear at the top of the available meetings between April 11, 2024 and April 13, 2024.

Win-only bets

A win-only bet is fairly self-explanatory: you bet on the horse to win the race. For you to make any return on your stake, the horse that you have backed must win the Grand National.

How does each-way betting work?

Each-way bets are essentially two bets in one. The first bet is that your horse will win, the second is that your horse will finish in the places. For this year’s Grand National, we’ll be paying 1/5 the odds for the first SEVEN places - this means you’ll get a return if your horse finishes in the top seven!

Essentially, if you place a £10 each-way bet on a 100/1 outsider and they come in the first seven places, you would win £200 back from your stake.

Where do I find the Extra Place and Super Extra Place races at Aintree?

Both Extra Place and Super Extra Place races will be advertised on the Betfred homepage and their dedicated promo pages: Extra Place RacesSuper Extra Place.

In addition, a header will also highlight the offer on our Horse Racing page. The number of additional places will depend on the race and will be clearly detailed within the racecard.

Fred's Pushes and Price Boosts

In our shops, Fred’s Pushes will appear at 10:30 and 12:00, while online, Price Boosts will appear at 11:00. Fred’s Pushes are available every day at Aintree from April 11, 2024 to April 13, 2024.

What happens if my horse doesn't run?

If you placed a bet after 09:00 on March 18, 2024, you’ll get your money back as cash if your horse doesn’t run in the Grand National. This will be shown as ‘Outright NRNB’ (Non-Runner No Bet) on your betslip.
