Racing on Wednesday in the UK and Ireland takes place at Bath, Brighton, Kempton (AW), Pontefract, Sligo and Yarmouth. All six meetings are Flat cards, with a total of 37 races scheduled across the day.

One of our fancies comes at Brighton where a lightly raced George Boughey runner can score for the first time in handicap company when he features in a sprint content over the extended 5f trip.

Brighton 15:00 Crow’s Nest – 2/1

With back-to-back victories at Hamilton (6f) and Bath (5f), CROW’S NEST has made an excellent start to his career as a novice. He has also shown versatility in terms of how he has been ridden tactically in those races.

The son of U S Navy Flag was unable to complete his hat-trick on his handicap debut at Newmarket (6f) back in June. He was squeezed out towards the finish of that race, but was still able to finish a close third.

The form of that race was boosted when the runner-up scored at Nottingham (5f) on his next start.

The three-year-old from George Boughey’s stable features on the Betfred Betfinder as one of the Most Napped selections this afternoon and he remains open to improvement, especially on ‘Good’ ground.

Pontefract 16:20 Tele Red – 6/4

TELE RED comes into this race at Pontefract bidding to complete a hat-trick of victories following successes at Haydock (1m) and York (1m). Those two wins came when there was cut in the ground, but he has also shown he enjoys faster conditions.

Karl Burke’s runner scored by just over two lengths last time out at York, but the margin could have been far wider.

He has been raised 6lb for that performance, something he can defy, especially as apprentice Sam Feilden will be claiming 7lb off his back.

The experienced six-year-old is in the best form of his career and it looks unlikely that the handicapper has got a hold of him just yet.

Brighton 16:30 Youarenotforgiven – 7/2

With four wins from nine starts on turf, YOUARENOTFORGIVEN has an excellent strike-rate. That has been boosted recently with wins coming at Leicester (1m) and Newbury (7f).

He now features on the highlight of the card at Brighton on Wednesday afternoon.

Tony Carroll’s runner got there just in time on his latest appearance at Newbury and a step back up to 1m gives him that extra furlong to get going here.

He will be ridden once again by 3lb claimer Mollie Phillips who knows the horse very well, having ridden him all three times this season.

This latest mark of 80 is a new career-high mark, but it is just 3lb higher than his latest success. The five-year-old will appreciate the fast ground at the south coast racecourse and has been handed a good draw from stall three.
