There are four meetings set to take place in the UK and Ireland across the afternoon and into Wednesday evening.

Amongst the four are two jumps meetings at Exeter and Leicester and a pair of meetings on the all-weather at Dundalk and Kempton.

We focus on the all-weather action with a trio of selections from both sides of the Irish Sea.

Wednesday Racing Tips

  • 13:30 Dundalk - Mint Man @ 5/6
  • 14:35 Dundalk - Currumbin @ 2/1
  • 18:30 Kempton - Baldomero @ 13/2

13:30 Dundalk - Mint Man @ 5/6

It was a big run from Mint Man when narrowly denied on his third career start at Dundalk and he bounced back from a much lesser run when beaten a neck here earlier this month.

The son of Due Diligence sets the standard on that effort and he’s shown that he has the speed for five furlongs on a couple of occasions, including last time when showing some good pace.

This isn’t a strong maiden and there’s every chance he can continue to progress on just his sixth career start. He looks up to confirming form with Coulstar who was two lengths behind him last time out. The filly is entitled to come on for that run but she’s not sure to be suited by this sharper test.

14:35 Dundalk - Currumbin @ 2/1

The other maiden later on the card is another race that lacks depth. There are a couple of well bred newcomers in the line up but they’ll have to be above average to get the better of Currumbin.

The son of Footstepsinthesand ran a belter on debut over the mile here earlier this month when only beaten roughly two lengths and that’s a run worth upgrading with the gelding meeting some interference in the run and looking a shade green at times.

Expect him to progress plenty from that effort and with the step up in trip guaranteed to suit, he could be hard to beat, with the others that we have seen all achieving a fairly modest level of form.

18:30 Kempton - Baldomero @ 13/2

It’s hard to believe that Baldomero hasn’t been given any extra weight for his last couple of narrow defeats, the latest a neck loss to a very well handicapped Rousing Encore.

The son of Shalaa has a better attitude than his 2-34 record suggests and he’s been unlucky at times to bump into rivals with plenty in hand.

This is probably a weaker race than some of the contests he’s been running in recent times and he goes particularly well at Kempton, with one of his two wins coming at the Surrey track and twice in eight outings.

The step back up to seven furlongs could be the key to him now (his Dundalk victory came at this trip) and there’s a chance he’ll be able to get an uncontested lead in this small field.

The reappearance of cheekpieces may help freshen him up and he should probably be the outright favourite for this contest.
