Horse Racing Tips: There could be an Olympic effort in the Galway Plate

Back in the UK, there is flat action from Goodwood, Redcar, Sandown and Leicester. We have three fancies for our horse racing tips for Wednesday, with the first coming from Redcar, finishing with a selection the Galway Plate, where a chance is to be taken on one near the bottom of the weights.

16:00 Redcar - She's The Duchess @ 11/4

This is a competitive race despite only boasting six runners, and it is SHE'S THE DUCHESS who catches the eye sporting a tongue-tie for the first time under 7lb claimer Jack Callan.

She was a beaten favourite on her most recent start, but she has excuses for the performance on this occasion, having been squeezed out at the start and then short of room later in the race at a crucial moment, making it impossible to mount her challenge when it was needed.

Being drawn in stall four shouldn't be a problem and this looks like a good opportunity for the daughter of four-time Group 1 runner-up Bated Breath to return to winning ways.

17:45 Sandown - Magical Merlin @ 2/1

A second six-runner mile handicap provides another good opportunity to back a winner, and it is MAGICAL MERLIN for the in-form Harry Charlton stable.

Having been off the track since October, the Kodiac gelding made a good return to action in June with a second-placed finish at Salisbury.

Millie Wonnacott takes the ride and knows the gelding well, having partnered him on his last two runs.

With a reappearance under his belt, he can take a step forward in what looks a very winnable opportunity with a race that appears to lack depth.

The biggest dangers might be in the form of the trio of three-year-olds in the race, mainly Spirit Of Albion, who has shown good form this season, in particular his third-placed finish at Epsom when behind promising colt Jackknife.

18:40 Galway - Olympic Man @ 14/1

The feature at Galway on Wednesday is the Galway Plate, and cases can be made for many of the runners in the field with numerous last time winners as well as those who won at the Cheltenham Festival and the Punchestown Festival.

More value can be found elsewhere in the form of OLYMPIC MAN at the bottom of the weights. He has disappointed the last twice, firstly over too long a trip in the Scottish National and a quick reappearance on the final day of the UK jumps season at Sandown.

Prior to this, he won well at Naas and a chance was taken on him to return to this level of form.

Danny Mullins was aboard when successful at Naas, and with him back in the saddle over a much more suitable trip, he should put in a big performance off the second-lowest weight in the field.
