There are five meetings taking place across the UK and Ireland on a busy Wednesday and there’s something to cater to everyone’s tastes, with three Flat fixtures and two National Hunt cards to look forward to.

Catterick kicks us off and is swiftly followed by Musselburgh and twilight meetings from Bellewstown and Worcester. Kempton’s seven-race all-weather card takes us through the evening. Among Wednesday's horse racing tips is a thoroughly unexposed handicapper for George Boughey who took a huge step forward on handicap debut last time out.

16:05 Musselburgh - Yorkindness @ 9/2

Marathon trips don’t suit all Flat horses but one that is proven over longer distances is Charlie Johnston’s YORKINDNESS. She could be one to watch at Musselburgh as a return to winning ways could be on the agenda.

One crucial piece of form is her length-and-a-half third in this very race last year and on that evidence, she should be going close off a 2lb lower mark here.

While it’s noted that she has been badly out of form so far this year, it would be dangerous to give up on her and she’s definitely capable of winning more races.

The six-year-old’s last success came here over two furlongs shorter back in September and she’s currently on a 7lb lower mark. Stablemate Pons Aelius arrives in better form having won last time out but Yorkindness has more than enough ability to come out on top at the weights.

19:30 Kempton - Tuneful @ 7/2

George Boughey could be in for a good evening at Kempton and his runner TUNEFUL looks set to get off the mark sooner rather than later.

Her performance on handicap debut at Wolverhampton in February displayed significant improvement from her first three efforts which were pretty underwhelming in truth. Upped to an extended 1m1f that day, the extra distance was clearly a big plus and she stayed on well to take second.

There was a significant gap of three lengths between her and the third-place horse and she gave off the impression that another step up in trip was a good idea. Now trying 1m4f for the first time, it would be no surprise to see her get off the mark at the fifth time of asking.

It’s perhaps not ideal that the handicapper has put her up 3lb for that effort but it would be a surprise if she can’t progress beyond this mark.

19. 30 kempton - tuneful @ 7-2

20:00 Kempton - South Pole @ 11/1

You want to be on the lookout for lightly raced sorts with plenty of scope for further progress in these three-year-old handicaps and one runner that certainly fits the bill is Boughey’s SOUTH POLE.

The son of No Nay Never was previously a Ballydoyle inmate but he made just two starts for Aidan O’Brien. While his debut effort wasn’t particularly inspiring, the form looks pretty solid, with the winner going on to finish a length behind the subsequent Irish Derby hero in a Group 3 back in May.

As is the case with most O’Brien juveniles, he took a big step forward to finish second by just a length at Leopardstown next time and he kept on gamely. The Boughey yard also trains the 92-rated Rocking Tree who was nine lengths behind South Pole that day.

Billy Loughnane is on board here and also rode him when a well-beaten fourth on his first start for the yard at Salisbury. He got outpaced at a key stage over 1m2f and the extra furlong will be in his favour here.

Making his handicap debut here, he should improve physically for his last run and further progress is expected in this sphere.
