Worcester racecourse

There's a mixture of Flat and Jumps racing in the UK and Ireland on Wednesday, with five meetings taking place across the afternoon and into the evening.

Among my horse racing tips for the day is a promising hurdling debutant representing the David Pipe yard at Worcester, arriving suitably fresh and with conditions in his favour.

Horse Racing Tips - Wednesday, October 16

16:08 Worcester - Jurancon @ 9/4

JURANCON makes plenty of appeal in this two-mile novices' hurdle at Worcester.

The five-year-old won a soft-ground Irish point in easy fashion by over eight lengths when fresh in this month last year, before again winning easily by eight lengths in a Chepstow bumper on heavy ground that December.

The selection ran second in a Newbury bumper on soft ground in January ahead of defying a penalty in a Hereford bumper on soft ground in March in the style of a promising individual for when being switched to hurdles.

That switch to hurdles comes on Wednesday and the likely testing ground is going to play to his strengths more than most, so he is thought capable of making the perfect start.

Pipe had three winners last week, including two notable two successes through Lock Out and Neon Moon at Chepstow on Friday and Saturday. Jack Tudor is continuing in the saddle and he is 61-401 (15%) when riding for Pipe.

17:10 Worcester - Double Powerful @ 4/6

Neil Mulholland went 6-21 (29%) with his runners in the past fortnight and DOUBLE POWERFUL is the pick from his two entries in the concluding 2m4f handicap hurdle at Worcester on Wednesday afternoon.

Dylan Johnston is continuing in the saddle and he claims a valuable 5lb in the saddle. Johnston won the Welsh Champion Hurdle on board Lump Sum at the weekend and is a notable 4-15 (27% +£27.33) when riding for Mulholland.

Mulholland is 45-300 (15% +£95.44) with his runners over hurdles at Worcester.

The selection arrives on a four-timer, following victories at Fakenham in March, Market Rasen (later the same month on heavy) and Kelso this month.

A reproduction of that latest level of form back on a testing surface should suffice.
