York racecourse

There's lots of racing to enjoy across Britain and Ireland on Wednesday, including the opening card of the Dante Festival at York.

Below are my three horse racing tips for the day, including the progressive Frankies Dream who bids to bag a second turf win for Jennie Candlish.

Horse Racing Tips - Wednesday, May 14

  • 15:22 Newton Abbot - Dancingontheedge @ 11/4
  • 16:18 York - Frankies Dream @ 12/1
  • 19:30 Perth - Bayonetta @ 10/3

15:22 Newton Abbot - Dancingontheedge @ 11/4

DANCINGONTHEEDGE didn't do a lot wrong at Chepstow on last month's comeback from 228 days off.

The Paul Nicholls-trained mare travelled as well as anything, but was picked off by Northern Symphonie when they had to get down and battle from the last flight to the line.

That rival had fitness on her side and had won a maiden hurdle at this track previously, while she was also unexposed in handicaps and going up in trip.

All things considered, it was a solid start back from Dancingontheedge and she's only rated 2lb higher now. She's a course winner here over hurdles at 2m5½f and also ran well in one chase start last season despite getting hampered.

She stays this trip, handles quick ground and, with the benefit of a run under her belt, is fancied to make it second time lucky over fences.

15:22 Newton Abbot - Winner Dancingontheedge

16:18 York - Frankies Dream @ 12/1

Double-figure odds about FRANKIES DREAM in the Conundrum HR Consulting Handicap over 7f seem fair, especially with Betfred offering FOUR places instead of three.

The Belardo gelding is a three-year-old on the up for trainer Jennie Candlish, who has had her team in excellent fettle recently.

A four-time scorer on the all-weather from January-March over 5f/6f, this progressive performer has found further improvement for the switch to turf and the rise to this 7f trip.

He has figures of 312 in his trio of turf starts, scoring at Doncaster (good to firm) last month on his first try at this trip.

He has run a cracker since at Beverley, just failing to reel in all-the-way winning favourite We Dare To Dream after they had pulled miles clear of the rest.

He can line-up from an unchanged mark here, giving him 5lb in hand, and will relish the conditions. This is tougher on paper but he fully merits the chance.

16:18 York - Winner Frankies Dream

19:30 Perth - Bayonetta @ 10/3

The mare BAYONETTA is yet to win under Rules but she has shown some level of form in summer contests over hurdles.

She clearly acts on decent ground, while she was a point-to-point winner at Portrush in the autumn. She comes here race-fit having finished second between the flags at Loughanmore last month.

This will be her first chance jumping regulation fences in public and a mark of 100 appears fair. This doesn't look the strongest of races for the grade and the booking of former champion jockey Brian Hughes is a positive.

19:30 Perth - Winner Bayonetta
