There’s an even split between National Hunt and all-weather racing across Britain and Ireland on Wednesday with two meetings of each type set to take place.

Dundalk kicks us off and is swiftly followed by Hereford and Fontwell. Kempton’s nine-race evening fixture completes the day’s action.

One of our three strong fancies on Wednesday is one for Hughie Morrison who is thoroughly unexposed and can get off the mark over hurdles on just her second handicap start.

Wednesday's Racing Tips

  • 18:30 Kempton - Inverlochy @ EVS
  • 17:07 Hereford - Thank You Ma’am @ 11/4

16:00 Hereford - Selkirk Grace @ 5/1

Very lightly raced over hurdles, Hughie Morrison’s Selkirk Grace was very close to getting off the mark on handicap debut last time out.

The daughter of Cityscape showed some improvement on her third and final bumper start at Southwell in May when finishing third.

Her first three starts over hurdles were a little underwhelming and she was beaten by a combined total of 94 lengths in those three races. It’s reasonable to assume that she was outpaced in novice company over trips in the region of two miles.

There was massive improvement from this mare at Taunton last time out and she only just failed to catch the winner when finishing second by a neck.

The handicapper has put her up 4lb for that effort but that’s unlikely to contain her progression. She goes substantially up in trip to an extended 2m5f here and that should be a positive on the evidence we’ve seen so far.

It’s unlikely that she would need to find much to be a major player here but her overall profile indicates that further improvement may well be on the cards.

18:30 Kempton - Inverlochy @ EVS

Simon & Ed Crisford have a really progressive horse on their hands and Inverlochy has been in incredible form of late.

The daughter of Oasis Dream has really turned a corner since the Autumn and has managed to win four of her last five starts and her only unsuccessful effort resulted in a narrow second.

There’s something about her running style which suggests she keeps a bit for herself and if that’s the case, she should still have something in hand over the handicapper.

This prevents the handicapper from hammering her too much and she’s currently only 3lb higher than when winning at Wolverhampton last time out.

Clearly one to keep on side until her limitations are exposed, you can’t rule out further success here and there’s every reason to expect another big run.

17:07 Hereford - Thank You Ma’am @ 11/4

Georgina Nicholls’ Thank You Ma’am is another unexposed type and he could be one to watch as he makes his handicap debut in Hereford’s finale.

There’s plenty to like about the form of his most recent effort at Wincanton. He finished second to a very smart prospect who has since boosted the form by winning again. That effort came over 1m7f and he kept on well despite being outpaced when the pace quickened.

Title-seeking Sean Bowen takes the ride and that’s certainly an eye-catching jockey booking. He’s entitled to find plenty of improvement now switching to handicaps and the step back up in trip isn’t a concern. A massive run could be on the agenda from this lightly raced gelding.

Thank You Ma'am at 11/4
