National Hunt racing takes priority in the UK on Tuesday and there are three meetings in total taking place across the afternoon and evening.

First off is Market Rasen, before the afternoon action continues at Taunton and a seven-race all-weather card from Wolverhampton takes us into the evening.

Amongst our Tuesday fancies is one for Lucy Wadham that is making excellent progress since switching to fences this season.

  • 15:05 Market Rasen - Hashtag Boum @ 3/1
  • 15:35 Market Rasen - Scene One @ 7/2

14:50 Taunton - Inoui Machin @ 9/2

You may want to be on the lookout for a horse with some secrets from the handicapper in this very competitive handicap hurdle. Neil Mulholland’s Inoui Machin certainly fits the bill and could be the one to side with.

The Honolulu gelding was very useful in bumpers, winning two of his three starts in that sphere. His second win came at Chepstow in April (2m, good to soft) and it was a comfortable victory, despite the fact that he drifted in the final furlong.

His three efforts over hurdles have all been solid so far and he was second to a useful prospect at Doncaster last time out.

Now switching to handicaps, there should be plenty of improvement to come in this sphere and his opening mark of 113 looks very reasonable. He retains plenty of potential and it won’t be long before he’s competing in better races than this.

15:05 - Hashtag Boum @ 3/1

Don’t overlook Hashtag Boum at Market Rasen, as the Ruth Jefferson-trained mare is looking to gain a second win over timber. Winner of an Irish point over three miles before joining this yard, this trip should be no problem.

The daughter of Al Namix has had eight starts over hurdles so far and managed to get off the mark at Kelso in April. It was a strong staying performance over an extended 2m6f that day and she won going away at the finish.

She came very close to getting her head in front once again at Sedgefield in November. Finishing second that day, she just failed to out-battle the winner after a sustained duel up the run-in and the handicapper put her up 4lb for that effort.

It was also a fair performance from this seven-year-old when second at Kelso last time out. She was unfortunate to bump into a well handicapped horse that day but Jefferson’s mare’s chances will be helped by the 1lb lower mark here.

It surely won’t be long before she’s winning races again and this horse certainly looks capable of doing so.

15:35 - Scene One @ 7/2

Lucy Wadham’s Scene One has made a fine start to his chasing career and it would be no surprise if he’s still ahead of the handicapper. He could be the one to side with in this handicap chase, as he tries three miles for the first time.

The son of Curtain Time has had three starts over the larger obstacles so far and has come away victorious twice. His one disappointing effort came on very heavy ground at Fakenham in December and it was definitely the conditions that stopped him that day.

His pedigree suggests the new trip is a bit of an unknown but he’s a distant relative of very useful hurdler Crack Away Jack, who managed to place in graded races over three miles or further.

He hit the line well when winning over 2m5f at Fakenham in November and there’s reason enough to be optimistic that three miles could suit. Wadham’s eight-year-old is certainly progressing nicely over fences so far and it’s likely that there’s plenty more to come.
