There are three cards scheduled to take place in Britain on Tuesday with a jumps card at Southwell and two all-weather meetings from Lingfield and Wolverhampton.

Our picks come on the all-weather with a trio of selections from Lingfield.

The selections include a course specialist and a well-handicapped all-weather stalwart.

Tuesday Racing Tips

  • 12:00 Lingfield - Mykonos St John @ 15/2
  • 14:05 Lingfield - Light Speed @ 2/1
  • 15:05 Lingfield - Mukha Magic @ 18/1

12:00 Lingfield - Mykonos St John @ 15/2

The apprentice handicap at Lingfield looks competitive but it could go the way of course and distance winner Mykonos St John who has plenty in his favour in the opener.

The son of Swiss Spirit was only narrowly denied over this course and distance in October when just caught on the line by a progressive sort that was an even-money favourite on the day.

The six-year-old was then unsuited by a drop down to seven furlongs when switching to the Tapeta surface at Wolverhampton a week later. However, he got back on track at this venue when runner-up to a course specialist last month.

Drawn out in stall nine that day, he was forced three wide around the first couple of bends and covered more ground than the winner, who came over the top in the closing stages, benefitting from a decent gallop.

Stall two this time should make life much easier and he doesn’t have many rivals that like to be ridden prominently, which may mean that he’s gifted an easy lead.

His jockey is yet to ride any winners but has gone close a couple of times and the gelding is often claimer ridden.

With plenty of upside, he’s worth risking each-way at his current odds, particularly with Betfred paying four places on the race.

14:05 Lingfield - Light Speed @ 2/1

There’s also a lack of pace on paper in the Class 4 middle-distance handicap later on the card and Light Speed could be the one to take advantage.

He looked in need of the run on his debut back in October but he hasn’t looked back since, quickening up off a slow pace to win at Newcastle before relishing a step up to the extended mile at Wolverhampton when last seen.

An opening handicap mark of 80 looks workable for him and there could be even more to come at this sort of trip given that his half-brothers and dam all stayed this sort of distance. He’s the right favourite and is taken to land the hat-trick and make it three wins from his four career starts.

15:05 Lingfield - Mukha Magic @ 18/1

Mukha Magic hasn’t been firing on all cylinders in his recent starts but he’s come down to a very nice handicap mark as a result.

The seven-year-old was winning off a mark 3lb higher in June and he was only narrowly denied from a 5lb higher mark over this course and distance in September.

He’s been disappointing since and he’s hard to have maximum faith in but he’s too well treated to ignore and a return to Lingfield may help the course and distance winner get back on track.
