Bath racecourse

There are six meetings across the UK and Ireland on Wednesday, from Lingfield, Bath, Kilbeggan, Southwell, Hamilton and Kempton.

My horse racing tips for Wednesday, which includes a three-year-old filly for Ed Walker, all come from the card at Bath.

Horse Racing Tips - Wednesday, September 4

  • 15:02 Bath - Sofian @ 7/1
  • 16:05 Bath - Glamorous Express @ 5/4
  • 16:42 Bath - Bas Bleu @ 10/3

15:02 Bath - Sofian @ 7/1

The final suggestion is SOFIAN in the nine-runner Class 5 extended 5f juvenile maiden at Bath, representing Nikki Evans.

The Sands Of Mali colt began his career over this course and distance in July when showing understandable inexperience in reaching a held 10th of 15, but encouragingly that first day at school wasn't lost on him.

He returned to the track over an extended 7f on soft ground at Ffos Las the following month and shaped well in reaching a much improved fourth of 10, while also hinting that this slightly shorter trip on better ground may suit.

Gina Mangan continues in the saddle and that combination sets the form standard in what should be a modest affair.

16:05 Bath - Glamorous Express @ 5/4

GLAMOROUS EXPRESS is considered the one to be on in the eight-runner Class 5 5f handicap at Bath, representing Tony Carroll.

Carroll is 9-40 (23% +£36.20) with his representatives on this course this year and Luke Morris is 2-5 when riding the selection.

The five-year-old has won off higher marks than his current rating of 63 on the all-weather, but his best RPR of 80 came when winning over this course and distance on good ground as a juvenile in October 2021.

The gelded son of Gutaifan ran a fine race in reaching a close third over 5f at Sandown five days ago and a reproduction of that level of form may suffice.

16:42 Bath - Bas Bleu @ 10/3

BAS BLEU makes significant appeal in the eight-runner Class 4 extended 1m3f Fillies' handicap at Bath, representing Ed Walker.

Walker is 6-27 in the past fortnight and this three-year-old filly has been knocking at the door in her eight career starts between 1m and 1m4f.

Her year began with a third over 8.6f at Wolverhampton in January, before going close off 69 in a 1m2f Lingfield Polytrack handicap in January. She then got touched off by a nose in a 1m4f Wolverhampton novice and she didn't appreciate dropping back to 9.4f at the same venue in March.

The daughter of Masar was returning from a break when reaching a close third on good ground at Sandown in July, registering a peak Racing Post Rating (RPR) of 76.

The selection then stepped back up to 1m4f on turf when beaten by a neck off 69 at Newbury 18 days ago, an effort which warranted a 5lb rise to a new mark of 74, with the front two pulling three lengths clear of the third.

She was awarded a new personal best RPR of 79 for that Newbury display and she should remain particularly competitive if merely running to the same level in this race.
