Newton abbot racecourse

There is a mixture of Flat and jump racing in the UK and Ireland on Wednesday, with five meetings taking place across the afternoon and into the evening.

Among our Wednesday selections is an improving chaser representing Dan Skelton at Newton Abbot.

Horse Racing Tips - Wednesday, October 30

16:00 Newton Abbot - Doyouknowwhatimean @ SP

16:30 Newton Abbot - Sure To Be Sure @ SP

17:00 Kempton - Reddeef @ SP

16:00 Newton Abbot - Doyouknowwhatimean @ SP

DOYOUKNOWWHATIMEAN is considered one of the best bets of the day in the Class 4 extended 2m5f Handicap Chase at Newton Abbot, representing Dan Skelton and with Harry Skelton continuing a winning association in the saddle.

Dan Skelton went 15-56 (27%) in the past 14 days and is 10-49 (20%) with his runners over fences at Newton Abbot. Harry Skelton is 14-67 (21%) when riding over fences on this course.

The ground is officially heavy at Newton Abbot and the selection finished last season with two progressive chasing victories on heavy ground at Lingfield and Stratford.

The latest Stratford victory came over 2m1f and his mark has been raised 9lb to 117, but he registered a peak Racing Post Rating (RPR) of 122 in coming clear to win by over six lengths.

The step back up to an intermediate trip over fences is likely to bring out even more improvement and he is taken to complete the hat-trick on his return to action.

16:30 Newton Abbot - Sure To Be Sure @ SP

SURE TO BE SURE is representing Helen Nelmes in the 10-runner Class 5 extended 2m Open Maiden National Hunt Flat race and the four-year-old may be able to reward some each-way support at tempting odds.

Nelmes had a winner through Wellwillya at Exeter recently and her new recruit is a four-year-old half-brother to the useful bumper winner Gaillimh A Chroi, among others, out of a dual 2m4f hurdle winner.

The selection is by the Irish-bred sire Affinsea, whose progeny have a 25% strike-rate in bumpers and are particularly effective on soft and heavy ground.

17:00 Kempton - Reddeef @ SP

REDDEEF is also worth supporting when he steps up slightly in trip and switches to the AW for his handicap debut after three 6f turf starts. This come in the Class 5 7f Nursery Handicap from Kempton, representing Charlie Fellowes.

Fellowes is 6-55 (11%) with his juvenile runners on this course and David Probert is 2-22 (9%) when riding for Fellowes.

The 72-rated selection was noted rallying into an encouraging sixth of 15 over 6f on good ground at Newmarket on his debut in August, registering an RPR of 71 and he ran to an RPR of 72 when third over 6f on soft ground at Carlisle in August.

The Blue Point colt was below his best on good to firm ground at Pontefract in September, but he has had a small break since and the extra furlong promises to suit from an exploitable mark on his first start on a synthetic surface.

He is wearing first-time cheekpieces which may help, while he is closely related to US 1m winner Liberal and is a half-brother to four winners at up to 1m3f, including as a juvenile and on the AW.
