Racing on Tuesday in the UK and Ireland comes from Ayr, Galway, Sedgefield, Southwell and Wolverhampton (AW).

One of our fancies is a Rebecca Menzies-trained runner who can successfully follow up from a recent success at Kelso when he lines up at Sedgefield this afternoon in a handicap hurdle contest over 2m4f.

Tuesday Racing Tips

  • 13:30 Sedgefield – Imperial Data @ 5/2
  • 16:10 Galway – Itswhatunitesus @ 13/8
  • 16:32 Ayr – Alpine Sierra @ 5/2

13:30 Sedgefield – Imperial Data @ 5/2

Points winner Imperial Data got off the mark under rules on his first start since having a wind op when successful at Kelso (2m5f) last month. He stayed on very strongly at the Scottish course where it was clear his recent procedure had made a big difference.

Before his victory at Kelso, Rebecca Menzies’ runner had been running respectably well without getting the rewards. He was second in back-to-back races at Hexham (2m4f), while on his step up to 3m½f, he was runner-up at Southwell.

The lightly raced six-year-old features on the Betfred Betfinder as one of the Most Napped selections today. If he steps up on his latest triumph, he can add to his tally on his return to handicap company off this workable mark of 94.

16:10 Galway – Itswhatunitesus @ 13/8

Itswhatunitesus was successful twice over hurdles before switching to fences. He also featured in a Grade One contest over sticks last season in the Future Champions Novice Hurdle, so he clearly has a lot of ability.

Unfortunately for connections of the six-year-old, he did not make a great start to his chasing career as he was pulled up on his debut over bigger obstacles at Kilbeggan (2m3f).

He lost a left fore shoe in that race, which would not have helped. Before pulling up ahead of the last, he had jumped well, so there were some positives to take away from the run.

Gordon Elliott’s gelding has had a few months off over the summer so expect to see him return much fresher for this second shot at fences. He is a much better horse than his Kilbeggan result suggests and he could still have a very bright future as a chaser.

16:32 Ayr – Alpine Sierra @ 5/2

After moving to Jim Goldie’s yard back in May, Alpine Sierra was victorious at this course over 1m on his seasonal reappearance from a mark of 67. He has gone close to adding to his tally since then, but he has had to settle for the minor honours.

The five-year-old gelding is back in class six handicap company after dropping down to a mark of 66, 1lb lower than his last win. He did not fare badly here over 1m last month, when he was fifth of 13 runners, going down by less than two lengths.

The son of Distorted Humor has Mark Winn claiming 3lb off his back for this assignment, and with the opposition set to be weaker, it looks like a great opportunity for him on ground which will suit.
