Horse Racing Tips: Belle looking good at Beverley

There is no shortage of racing action on Monday as the Galway Races sparks into action at Ballybrit amongst five meetings across Britain and Ireland.

It's a mixed card at Galway, while they race on the Flat at Ayr, Yarmouth, Windsor and Southwell (AW) in Britain on a Monday with 34 races to take in from 14:00-21:00. Below are my three Horse Racing Tips from across Monday's card, including one for Gordon Elliott at Galway.

17:10 Beverley - Brazlian Belle @ 2/1

A race which is going to be between two at the head of the market, it is the filly BRAZILIAN BELLE who can land the spoils.

She has been in the first three on six of her 12 starts, and has a good second over course and distance earlier in the month. She is thriving with racing and has improved on each of her last three starts, losing by just a neck most recently.

While she has been going up in the handicap as a result of these runs, further improvement is still on the cards and this looks a good opportunity to return to winning ways.

17:37 Galway - King Of Kingsfield @ 11/8

Galway hosts both Flat and jumps action over the week, and we start with a chaser for Gordon Elliot who can finish with his head in front.

KING OF KINGSFIELD has only raced once over fences, but finished a credible second on this occasion and there is every chance a repeat performance would be good enough to win this race

Being a Beginners Chase there are a lot of unknowns and his previous experience over fences should stand him in good stead.

Further to this, on hurdling ability, there is a strong case to say he possesses much the best form of any of the horses in the field. This ultimately looks a relatively weak race and King Of Kingsfield should be good enough to win a race of this level on his second start over fences.

19:50 Galway - Merlin The Wizard @ 12/1

MERLIN THE WIZARD was formerly with Harry Charlton before being purchased by John James Feane and moved over to Ireland.

As a three-year-old in the UK he showed a high level of form and had a best official rating of 96. Fast forward to now and he is rated 80.

His last four starts for the Charlton team saw him beat only four horses home, which was obviously disappointing for a horse that had shown plenty of promise.

Since switching to Ireland, however, he has beaten a few more and shaped encouragingly on his most recent start at Leopardstown in what was a class above what he is going to encounter at Galway.

He was seventh of 12, but this doesn’t tell the whole story with the gelding stuck behind horses at the top of the straight before getting an opening much later than would have been ideal and actually finishing the race off strongly.

This was very much a return to form and an eyecatching performance.

Apprentice Patrick McGettigan is booked for the ride, claiming 7lb, and with four wins and a winning strike rate of 27% in the last fortnight, he can steer Merlin The Wizard back to winning ways.
