There’s plenty of racing to look forward to on Tuesday, with five UK and Irish meetings taking place.

The Grassroots Series Finals Day from Nottingham in the lead attraction in Britain, while in Ireland Cork boasts the Listed Irish Stallion Farms Ebf Navigation Stakes as their feature. There are also meetings at Beverley on turf as well as Lingfield and Newcastle on the all-weather.

We have three horses to follow on the day’s action including Proud And Regal for Donnacha O’Brien in the feature race in Ireland.

Tuesday Racing Tips

  • 16:15 Cork – Proud And Regal @ 7/1
  • 16:25 Nottingham – Olympicus e/w (4 places) @ 6/1
  • 20:00 Newcastle – Dream Together e/w (4 places) @ 12/1

16:15 Cork – Proud And Regal @ 7/1

Cork is Ireland’s sole offering on Tuesday and the highlight from the Mallow circuit will be the Listed Irish Stallion Farms Ebf Navigation Stakes over a mile, where a field of 14 are set to contest for the €25k top prize.

The joint top-weights are Ger Lyons’ Power Under Me and Self Belief for Willie McCreery, while lightly-raced French import Caracal is interesting as one of a quartet for Joseph O’Brien after he won on Irish bow at Tipperary last time.

Donnacha O’Brien might have one to thwart his brother’s challenge in Proud And Regal.

The Galileo colt was a three-time winner last season as a juvenile, culminating in a Group 1 success at Saint-Cloud in October over this mile trip on heavy ground.

He has been campaigned mostly over further this season and didn’t appear to get home in the Irish Derby when last spotted, having found it tough going previously to that in the 2000 Guineas at the Curragh after shaping nicely in the Leopardstown Derby Trial in his comeback in May.

Given a break since, he returns to a mile now and drops markedly in grade too. Gavin Ryan’s partner could once more produce his very best stuff in the autumn.

16:25 Nottingham – Olympicus e/w @ 6/1

Colwick Park stages Finals Day for their Grassroots Series, and it makes for a quality afternoon of racing at Nottingham with five Class 2 contests on the card.

Amongst those is the Grassroots Series Middle Distance Final Handicap over 1m2f where a field 12 go for the top prize and the Michael Appleby-trained Olympicus is worth a close look in his attempt to justify inclusion on today’s Most Napped table via the Betfred Betfinder.

The American Pharoah gelding was formerly trained in Ireland by Joseph O’Brien in 2022 and opened his account at Newmarket (1m2f, good to firm) last month on fourth start for this handler.

He showed a good attitude in that contest at HQ to repel the late challenge of Hakuna Babe, who re-opposes now on 1lb worse terms. Olympicus doesn’t have major miles on the clock and his tail should be up after getting that first win – he may make further progress now.

With the 16:25 being one of Betfred’s Extra Place Races, with four on offer at 1/5 the odds, this is an each-way suggestion at current prices.

20:00 Newcastle – Dream Together e/w @ 12/1

Jedd O’Keefe’s Dream Together is 0-6 on the all-weather, with all those runs coming over this C&D at Newcastle, but his two most recent efforts here have offered some encouragement that his time might be coming.

He was fourth here in June and then beaten less than a length when he returned at the start of August, holding every chance after making most of the running until he was overhauled deep inside the final furlong.

He wasn’t as good since at Ripon but that race perhaps didn’t play out ideally for him. He remains on the sort of mark from which he can almost certainly pinch a race of this ilk and, with this also being a Betfred Extra Place Race (four places), he looks worthy of some interest back at Gosforth Park.
