Carlisle Racecourse Flat

Flat racing holds sway across Britain and Ireland on Wednesday, with six meetings taking place across the afternoon and into the summer evening. First off is Salisbury before they go at Carlisle, Kempton Park, Naas and Ffos Las - while there is an afternoon jumps meeting at Worcester.

Wednesday's racing tips from Today's Horse Races includes one for trainer Grant Tuer who should take plenty of beating.

Wednesday's Racing Tips

  • 14:05 Carlisle - Kitten In The Sky @ 5/2
  • 14:35 Carlisle - Megalithic @ 8/11
  • 15:35 Carlisle - Jabaara @ 10/11

14:05 Carlisle - Kitten In The Sky @ 5/2

Backed from 20/1 into 11/1 just before the off on her debut over 5f at Catterick last week, KITTEN IN THE SKY can go one better than her eye-catching second in the 5f restricted maiden.

It took a couple of furlongs for the Far Above filly to settle into her race in rear but when she was asked to quicken she did so in style and she rattled home to finish a length off the winner, Educating Rita.

Kitten In The Sky would have won the race in another matter of strides and she should take a lot of beating here with that run under her belt. Sporting the familiar Nick Bradley silks, Grant Tuer's filly can get off the mark in a winnable race.

14:35 Carlisle - Megalithic @ 8/11

Moving on to the following 6f maiden which looks like a very good race on paper and it's a golden opportunity for Ralph Beckett's MEGALITHIC to gain a deserved first success on his third career start.

Third at Salisbury over 5f on debut, the Wootton Bassett colt only found the progressive Teej A too strong in the 6f Woodcote at Epsom when last seen, but he looked a better horse than the winner on the day.

Bumped at the start, Megalithic lost many lengths early on and he did really well to finish second on the day, having to weave through horses down the outside.

It really was an eyecatching effort and it's also worth pointing out Teej A beat subsequent Coventry Stakes winner Rashabar at Chester prior to that so the form looks rock solid.

15:35 Carlisle - Jabaara @ 10/11

Last but certainly not least, Roger Varian's JABAARA can follow up her Listed win at Musselburgh and take down the 7f Listed Eternal Stakes in the hands of bang in form James Doyle.

A winner over 6f at Newmarket on debut in May of last year, the Exceed And Excel filly ran credible races in better company, including when beaten just three-lengths when sixth in the Cheveley Park at Newmarket in September.

Third at Chelmsford on her return in May, she had subsequent Sandringham winner Soprano behind on the day and she looked very good when winning at Musselburgh over 7f. She is good enough to defy the penalty and should be hard to beat.
