Beverley Racecourse

There are four meetings to enjoy on Tuesday, with afternoon jumps action at Newton Abbot joined by flat cards from Beverley, Newbury and Brighton into the evening.

Tuesday's racing tips come from across the cards - including a 6/4 shot in Beverley's opening contest.

Tuesday's Racing Tips

  • 13:47 Beverley - Warrendale Wagyu @ 6/4
  • 16:30 Newton Abbot - Lallygag @ 11/4
  • 19:50 Newbury - Strike @ 4/1

13:47 Beverley - Warrendale Wagyu @ 6/4

Beverley is the first port of call and the opening Go Racing In Yorkshire Future Stars Apprentice Handicap looks a good spot for WARRENDALE WAGYU to double his tally of wins for John & Sean Quinn.

The Tasleet gelding is a veteran of a mere four starts. The first three of those were on synthetic surfaces and, truth be told, weren't all that promising.

However, it was a different start on handicap/turf bow at Doncaster (5f, good to firm) recently, as he defied a 172-day absence for a winning start in this sphere.

He got to the lead with a half-furlong left to run and, despite looking a bit green, it was all very straightforward for claimer Gianluca Sanna as they passed the post a length to the good, seemingly with more to offer it was needed.

A few of today's rivals were in behind and, with the likelihood of further improvement to come, they'll do well not to see the back of Warrendale Wagyu again now.

16:30 Newton Abbot - Lallygag @ 11/4

Olive Nicholls partners LALLYGAG for her father and 13-time champion trainer, Paul Nicholls, in the Tilly And Seth Wedding Party Handicap Hurdle and they could be set to win.

After a good effort from this seven-year-old gelding at Warwick (2m5f, good) in May, he has since finished second-best at Worcester (2m7f, good) this month in what was his first crack at a genuine staying trip.

On that occasion, he saw the distance out well under this rider and was quite unfortunate to bump into a very much on-song Bucko's Boy, with Jamie Snowden's runner hacking up on his first start in 230 days.

Lallygag has been eased once more by the assessor after that run and may be good enough now to go one place better.

19:50 Newbury - Strike @ 4/1

The final of Today's Horse Races at Newbury is the 6f Racing Staff & Friend Go Free Handicap and it can go the way of STRIKE for trainer Jonathan Portman.

The Lethal Force gelding has been in good form recently. He launched his turf season with a win at Windsor (6f, good) in April, getting up close home in a race that has produced a few subsequent winners.

He went to Salisbury this month and, racing from this 4lb higher mark, was a solid third in the end as Regal Envoy dominated from the front and ultimately won well.

He now faces a couple of last-time-out winners in the shape of Hurt You Never and Lipsink, but Strike does so from an unchanged mark and with the benefit of Olivia Tubb's 7lb claim in the saddle. She has a fine strike-rate for this yard and can bag another winner now.

Strike to win the 19.50 Newbury at 4-1
