Tuesday Racing Tips: Classic Maestro the one to beat at Catterick

We have a fairly quiet Tuesday on our hands this week, with just three meetings taking place across Britain and no Irish representation amongst it. Leicester kicks us off in the afternoon, with Catterick’s six-race card following soon after, and Wolverhampton provides the evening entertainment with their eight-race all-weather fixture.
We have three strong fancies to follow across the day and they include one for the in-form Jennie Candlish that could still be ahead of the handicapper.
Horse Racing Tips - Tuesday, February 25
16:00 Catterick - Classic Maestro @ 6/5
CLASSIC MAESTRO has been a prolific winner this term, over both hurdles and fences, so the handicapper is clearly having a hard time tying him down.
Jennie Candlish’s seven-year-old scored over hurdles at Wetherby and Bangor before returning to chasing and continues to progress.
Winning easily over two miles at Leicester earlier this month, the handicapper responded with a 3lb rise but it wouldn’t be a surprise if there was more to come. He had plenty in hand that day and jumped well from the front, successfully making all.
Even his two chase defeats were fair efforts and both came in better races than this. The son of Jet Away was far from disgraced when fourth in a thoroughly competitive Class 2 at Sandown on his penultimate start and was a good third over 2m4f at Haydock before that.
Candlish is operating at a strike-rate of 25 per cent in the last fortnight which is very healthy indeed and Classic Maestro is entitled to run another big race.

16:30 Catterick - From The Ashes @ 6/4
Charles Byrnes is a colourful character and it’s always wise to keep an eye out for his runners in Britain. You often learn plenty about their chances by their market popularity and FROM THE ASHES deserves to be at the head of the market.
His most recent effort was particularly eye-catching as he was a solid third in a better race at Windsor over an extended 3m4f. Clearly stamina is no issue for Charles Byrnes’ gelding and it’s also noted that he was prominent throughout that day.
From The Ashes has won just once over fences so far and that came over a shorter trip at Gowran in February 2023. His narrow second over hurdles at Leopardstown over hurdles in March is also a fair effort and this looks like a winnable race.
It often pays to be up with the pace at Catterick as it’s usually difficult for hold-up horses to catch up, given the sharp nature of the course. A return to winning ways could very much be on the agenda here.

20:00 Wolverhampton - Sense Of Worth @ 5/1
SENSE OF WORTH tends to run his race more often than not at Wolverhampton, with one win and four placed efforts to his name in nine starts at the Midlands track.
That success came over course and distance last time out, where he got the better of fellow veteran Starfighter by three-quarters-of-a-length a week ago. Carrying a 4lb penalty here, the extra weight shouldn’t make too much difference.
All four of his career wins have come on the all-weather and he’s clearly a better horse on artificial surfaces. Ideally he would settle a little better than he did last time but clearly it didn’t have that much impact and a follow up victory is anticipated here.
