Nottingham racecourse

There's lots of racing to sample on Tuesday, with six meetings down for decision across Britain and Ireland. There's National Hunt fare from Punchestown, Hexham and Huntingdon, while they go on the Flat at Nottingham, Brighton and Cork.

Included in my Tuesday racing tips is Beauty Generation for trainer Marco Botti at Nottingham.

15:40 Nottingham - Beauty Generation @ 9/1

BEAUTY GENERATION is fancied for trainer Marco Botti in the Abba Fever July 6th Book Now Handicap over an extended mile after a good run last time at Yarmouth.

The Ulysses gelding is now a veteran of eight starts and won his maiden over a mile on the Polytrack at Chelmsford last August.

Well held in two further starts in handicaps last year, he has run three good races since coming back from his winter recess.

He was twice second over the mile at Kempton in March, initially in a Class 5 event that has thrown up a host of subsequent winners, and then finished third at Yarmouth (1m, good) 17 days ago.

Cheekpieces are tried for the first time this season now and he races from an unchanged mark while taking a drop in grade. He should be on the premises again and a first turf success is surely imminent.

17:20 Cork - Alpha Cephei @ 9/1

The minimum 5f is the trip awaiting the seven declared runners in the Follow Us On Social Media Handicap at Cork, race two on the evening at the Mallow venue.

Last-time-out winners Kendall Roy and Branding are key players on form, but David Marnane's gelding ALPHA CEPHEI could be worth siding with back from a break.

He showed some promise in a trio of maidens at Leopardstown last summer over 7f/1m and also ran well in a 6f nursery on soft ground at this course in September.

He's been off since and has been gelded ahead of this first tilt at the minimum trip. He has plenty of speed in his pedigree and could run a big race now for a trainer whose horses are generally running well across recent days.

19:28 Hexham - West Lawn @ 7/1

Dr Shirocco had the mare WEST LAWN behind in third when scoring over course and distance 10 days ago, but the placings could be reversed now.

The winner stayed on well to get the prize there, running down Ballylinch in the closing stages for a one-length win.

West Lawn, meanwhile, came under pressure from three out on her first start since February and was facing a stiff challenge in any case, racing as she did from 6lb out of the handicap.

She stuck to the challenge under Harry Reed and the gap was not widening at the line. She is 5lb better off with the winner now and being a dual winner of this trip as a hurdler at this venue, is fancied to put up a bold showing.

She had shown some promise previously at Catterick (3m1f, soft) in the springtime and if she keeps running well a first chasing success beckons.
