Horse Racing Tips: Wednesday’s best bets includes 22/1 each-way play

We've got five meetings to enjoy on Wednesday after Nottingham was abandoned due to the weather. First off is Sligo, where they go over Jumps, followed by Bellewstown, Catterick and Musselburgh - while Kempton’s nine-race card provides the evening entertainment.
Among my horse racing tips for Wednesday is one for Kevin Philippart De Foy who should improve substantially from her latest effort and a return to winning ways may be on the agenda.
Horse Racing Tips - Wednesday, October 2
14:13 Catterick - Azuinthejungle e/w @ 11/1
Handicap debutant AZUINTHEJUNGLE has the ideal profile for this sort of race and he’s entitled to progress upon making the switch.
His most encouraging effort came at Bath in September, where he ran a solid race back in fourth despite being a little on the keen side.
He has also shown signs of inexperience so far and he’s definitely not the finished article. With that in mind, handicaps could be the making of him and winning races shouldn’t be beyond him at this sort of level.
Lovat Scout and Brazilian Belle appear to be the biggest dangers but 67 looks like a workable opening mark and Nigel Tinkler’s gelding should be there or thereabouts.
This is a Super Extra Place with four available instead of three at 1/5 the odds for all each-way bets.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
17:10 Kempton - Dianara e/w @ 22/1
Kevin Philippart De Foy runs DIANARA in this interesting 7f handicap and the three-year-old remains thoroughly unexposed in handicap company. She only made her first start in this sphere last month and although she was last of the nine runners, it’s easy enough to forgive.
We hadn’t seen her for the best part of a year and it was easy to tell that she wasn’t quite up to full sharpness. This daughter of Goken was clearly very keen as well and that run would have relieved that freshness from her system.
Significant improvement is expected here and her form as a two-year-old definitely suggests she’s capable of winning more races, especially at this level.
De Foy’s filly could hardly have won any easier when getting off the mark over this trip at Brighton on her final start of last season. It’s worth noting that the form doesn’t look great but you can only beat what’s in front of you and she did it in fine style, powering clear to win by three-and-three-quarter-lengths.
Having been dropped 1lb since her latest run, she’s entitled to go close here.
This is an Extra Place Race, with four available instead of three at 1/5 the odds for all each-way bets.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
18:20 Kempton - Eben Zaabeel @ 11/2
Charles Hills’ EBEN ZAABEEL should be getting off the mark in handicap company soon and Wednesday could be the day, as this looks like a cracking opportunity.
The Shadwell Estate-owned three-year-old bumped into a smart one last time out and won’t find anything as promising in opposition here. Shader got the better of him at Southwell and has since boosted the form by scoring easily under a penalty next time.
He remains on a mark of 79, which he raced off when a respectable third on handicap debut at Newbury on his penultimate start. Eben Zaabeel would have learnt plenty from that experience and he seems to have been presented with a good opportunity to get off the mark.
Jim Crowley has ridden him in each of his six starts to date and it’s certainly a positive that Shadwell’s retained rider will be on board once again. It would be a surprise if he doesn’t end up being a fair bit better than his current mark and a big run is expected here.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
