Horse Racing Tips: Veer towards Fellowes runner on Tuesday

Flat racing holds sway across the UK and Ireland on Tuesday with five meetings all on the level, four in Britain and one in Ireland First off is Redcar, before they go at Punchestown, Brighton, Yarmouth and Newcastle.
Among our horse racing tips for Tuesday is one for trainer Charlie Fellowes, who sends just one runner on the long trip from Newmarket to Newcastle.
Horse Racing Tips - Tuesday, September 17
16:35 Yarmouth - Rosy Affair @ 4/1
The tough-and-genuine ROSY AFFAIR has finished in the first two in all seven starts and is fancied to make up for a couple of recent defeats by winning this red-hot sprint handicap.
The George Boughey-trained filly has been nudged up 2lb in the weights for her latest second at Newmarket, but she was unlucky not to win that day. She went through the race like the best horse but found herself in front too soon and was picked off near the finish.
She definitely did too much too soon on testing ground there and now returns to the racecourse with a tongue strap fitted in a bid to help her see out her race a bit better.
Billy Loughnane, who rode her to a closer second at Newmarket on her previous start, is back in the saddle to take over from Pat Cosgrave and Rosy Affair can go one better.

17:13 Redcar - Marmalade Lady @ 9/4
This staying contest provides a good opportunity for MARMALADE LADY, who has been in top form recently and looks to be open to plenty more improvement for Hughie Morrison.
Marmalade Lady looked like a strong stayer when scoring over 1m4f at Chepstow in June and followed that with a good fourth behind a plethora of subsequent winners in a hot contest over 1m6f at Yarmouth next time. That was off a mark 1lb higher than this.
She ran to a similar level on the all-weather at Lingfield two starts ago before taking another step forward at Ffos Las last time. She kept on strongly in first-time cheekpieces to take second behind improving winner Three Dons on heavy ground over 1m4f that day. It was a super effort.
The return to a longer trip is definitely in Marmalade Lady’s favour and she has a huge chance of going one better than last time, off a 1lb lower mark, with the cheekpieces back on.

18:00 Newcastle - Veer @ 2/1
It’s a 255-mile journey from Newmarket to Newcastle and it looks significant that trainer Charlie Fellowes is sending VEER to the track as his only runner on the day.
Veer is a steadily progressive three-year-old who recorded his best effort on Tapeta when second in a 1m6f handicap at Southwell in July off a mark just 1lb lower than this.
He competed off this rating last time at Nottingham and was beaten seven lengths by the well-handicapped winner Lusaka but held off the remainder of the field in good style. That run might be better than it looks on paper as the race was completed in a good time.
He shaped like a stiffer test would suit him that day, so the step up two-and-a-half furlongs is definitely in Veer’s favour and he won’t have to step forward too much to win this weak race.
