It’s another busy racing programme across Britain and Ireland on Tuesday 15 August, with five meetings taking place.

Dundalk is first off and there are further afternoon cards from Nottingham and Lingfield before evening meets at Newcastle and Chelmsford on a rare summer’s day where all-weather action dominates.

Amongst our fancies include a lightly-raced previous winner heading for Lingfield looking to get back on the up.

Tuesday Racing Tips

  • 3.20 Lingfield – Princess Chizara @ 3/1
  • 4.00 Nottingham – Alnilam @ 7/1
  • 6.30 Newcastle – Sea The Dream @ 10/3

3.20 Lingfield – Princess Chizara @ 3/1

The British Stallion Studs EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes is one of three races taking place on the Polytrack at Lingfield to open their card before the focus moves across to the turf and Princess Chizara could be capable of dominating her six rivals in this 5f dash.

She did just that on debut at Brighton in June, easily repelling an odds-on favourite that had previously shown some solid form.

She’s had two more outings since, fading in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot and a Glorious Goodwood Conditions event. That most recent start 13 days ago was always going to be a tough ask with unfavourable terms against higher-rated rivals.

Her sights are lowered now by trainer Conrad Allen and while she has a 6lb winners’ penalty in this line-up, rider Connor Planas cuts that in half. If they get away alertly they could be very hard to peg back.

4.00 Nottingham – Alnilam @ 7/1

Nottingham’s feature race this afternoon is the Weatherbys Digital Solutions Colwick Cup Handicap over two-miles and the market is dominated by Golden Shot.

Sir Mark Prescott’s charge won a Ffos Las apprentice race a week ago by the thick end of 30-lengths and is only 5lb higher now. A literal interpretation of that heavy-ground form could be dangerous.

He meets a rival in fine fettle now in the form of Alinilam for trainer Milton Harris and Pat Dobbs.

He needed every yard of the 1m6f journey at Yarmouth last time when scoring in a competitive Racing League event, supplementing a previous success at Sandown in doing so and his latest 4lb rise looks fair as he now tackles this longer trip for the first time.

He’s on the Most Napped table via the Betfred Betfinder for today’s action and, in this Betfred Extra Place Race (four places), looks set for a leading role.

6.30 Newcastle – Sea The Dream @ 10/3

A really competitive novice contest over the mile trip on the evening card at Newcastle and one in which Galactic Charm and Star Runner have shown enough to merit consideration, while newcomer Golden West makes appeal on paper.

They are overlooked in favour of Ed Bethell’s Sea The Dream however as he seeks to make good on the promise of his second start at Haydock last month.

His debut at the same course was something of a non-event as he raced in midfield before getting stuck behind flailing rivals at a crucial stage and making no telling impact late on.

It was a different story last time as he was away alertly, always close to the pace and finished second, beaten a neck, in a race that has already thrown up two next-time-out winners.

There ought to be more to come upped to the mile and he’s got strong claims of notching his breakout win at Gosforth Park.
