Tuesday Racing Tips: 2/1 shot tops today’s best bets

Four cards remain this Tuesday after the abandonment of Fairyhouse.
The meetings are at Newcastle, Lingfield, Wolverhampton and Huntingdon, and we have a couple of fancies from across the cards.
15:55 Newcastle - Ratafia @ 2/1
The first race we’re going to feature is the 7f Class 6 handicap at Newcastle where a last-time-out winner is well in under a penalty.
The handicapper is yet to have his say but Ratafia is surely going to be going up more than the 5lb penalty he carries for last week’s course and distance success. The gelding bolted up that day, winning by over three lengths and he won that in better style than the margin suggests.
The five-year-old is riding the crest of a wave at present, bidding for a hat-trick here having kicked off his winning streak at Redcar last month and his win last week was a clear career best.
He was admittedly helped by being held up off a very strong pace last time but the form has a solid look to it with the second and third both consistent sorts who are usually in the mix at this sort of level on the all-weather.
With a tougher draw (2 rather than 10) this time, it might not be quite as straightforward but given that he’s a hold up performer, he should have no problem dropping in and tracking over to the favoured nearside rail.
Jockey Joanna Mason seems to have really found the key to this gelding given that the horse was a 15-race maiden before she rode him for the first time at Redcar last month and the yard couldn’t be in much better form either, with two winners and two placed horses from his last six representatives.
18:30 Wolverhampton - Initio @ 11/1
After getting off the mark over this course and distance last time out, Initio looks like a huge player with an unchanged handicap mark. He was impressive when making all in that novice contest and it’s a little surprising that the handicapper didn’t revise his mark of 75.
The three-year-old has much more upside than most of his rivals who look like an exposed bunch and given that he’s the only confirmed front-runner in the line-up, he should be able to dictate his own fractions.
His jockey, Harry Davies, is a talented rider, particularly from the front, and he is riding the crest of a wave right now. Initio looks capable of giving the promising youngster his fifth win in his last 14 rides.
