Flat racing holds sway across Britain and Ireland on Tuesday with five meetings taking place across the afternoon and into the evening - four of them on the level. First off is Beverley and Southwell (jumps) in the afternoon before they go to Chepstow, Ayr and Killarney in the evening.

Among our Tuesday racing tips is one for trainer Karl Burke who looked above-average when winning on debut and can maintain his unbeaten record at Beverley.

Tuesday Racing Tips

  • 14:15 Beverley - Assertively @ 6/4
  • 15:15 Beverley - J R Cavagin @ 11/2
  • 18:40 Chepstow - Cayman Tai @ 5/1

14:15 Beverley - Assertively @ 6/4

Bought for 75,000 guineas as a yearling, ASSERTIVELY is a well bred son of Acclamation, and he made no mistake when getting off the mark at the first time of asking at Ripon over 5f last month, when beating Night In Paris by a short-head.

The pair pulled well clear of the remainder on soft ground, and further improvement is likely on forecast quicker ground given his pedigree. There was plenty to like about his attitude on debut too as he really knuckled down when he was asked for his effort.

If there is a concern, it is the fact Assertively must concede weight to the field. The main danger could be Tim Easterby's Barmyblade, who ran well for a long way when fourth behind the selection last time and will be fully expected to improve.

15:15 Beverley - J R Cavagin @ 11/2

Trainer Paul Midgley has farmed this 5f handicap in recent years, winning it three times since 2018. The handler has two to go to war with this year courtesy of Masterclass and J R CAVAGIN, but it's the latter who should come out on top.

The six-year-old was in need of the run after a 212-day break when down the field at Newcastle on his return last month, but all four of his career victories have come on grass, so he will be seen to much better effect now with the cobwebs blown away.

J R Cavagin rounded off last year with a narrow victory at Redcar when heavily backed, and he loves a rattling surface so the ground should be ideal for him. He has to have a good chance with a decent draw in stall five to work with too.

18:40 Chepstow - Cayman Tai @ 5/1

Backing newcomers regularly could never be regarded as a path to success, but on this occasion Richard Hannon's CAYMAN TAI could be worthy of a small investment in the 5f maiden.

The son of Earthlight has an entry for October's Two Year Old Trophy at Redcar, and he was picked up for £45,000 at the Goffs UK Premier Yearling Sale.

Hannon has got his year off to a flyer and already has 23 winners on the board. He knows how to prepare one first time out, and this is his sole runner at the track with Sean Levey booked for the ride.
