Tuesday racing tips: High hopes for Shaad on return

There are four meetings domestically on Tuesday as well as a jumps card from Ireland. Our focus is on the Flat action from Southwell’s evening card where there are eight races to get stuck into.
Among the fancies is a new recruit for James Owen and last-time-out winner that looks capable of running another big race.

5.00 Southwell - Shaad @ 13/2
A good apprentice rider can be worth their weight gold in races to confined to those that still have a claim, and recently crowned Champion Apprentice jockey Sean D Bowen couldn’t have made a much better start to his career.
He gets on board Shaad for his boss, James Owen, who himself has made a highly encouraging start to his training career, and there are a few reasons to think the son of Gleneagles can go well at a potentially decent price.
The three-year-old had looked promising on the all-weather at Wolverhampton when making his debut before some lesser efforts on turf, but he shaped okay in handicap company back on an artificial surface at Lingfield last time, finishing sixth of 10 despite meeting some trouble in running.
He might be able to build on that from a lowly mark of just 52 and the yard couldn’t be in much better form, running at a near 30 percent strike-rate over the last fortnight.
All-weather surfaces could be the key to him and he’s been gelded since he was last seen for his previous yard.
Owen is likely to find the recipe for success with Shaad sooner rather than later and his three-year-old ought to run well from a handy draw in stall three.

5.30 Southwell - Whizz By @ 7/2
Having shown very little in maidens, Whizz By took a fairly sizable step forward when winning over this course and distance on her handicap debut last month.
The step back up in trip helped that day and she could be a tough nut to crack in a bid for another handicap victory on Tuesday night.
She’s up 7lb for her win but she has an ideal stall in two and there’s plenty of seven-furlong form in her pedigree, so there could easily be more to come at this trip on just her fifth career start.
Hector Crouch, a jockey riding the crest of a wave in recent weeks, gets on board for the first time and the combination could be hard to pass.

7.30 Southwell - Cruyff Turn @ 14/1
Tim Easterby has enjoyed a solid end to the season and there are a few reasons to believe that Cruyff Turn may be able to get his head back in front.
He ran a cracker over seven furlongs here last month, despite that trip being on the sharp side for him on all-weather, and he shaped like he would relish the return to a mile.
It would be no surprise if he could get an uncontested lead from his low-ish draw in stall six and he could be hard to peg back if he does get loose.
