Wolverhampton races scaled

There are three cards in Britain on Tuesday and fans of both codes have something to look forward to.

I've come up with a trio of horse racing tips for the afternoon and early evening, including one at Lingfield and two at Wolverhampton.

Horse Racing Tips - Tuesday, February 11

  • 14:55 Lingfield - Ramo @ 8/1
  • 17:00 Wolverhampton - Sun Festival @ 10/3
  • 18:00 Wolverhampton - Lord Rapscallion @ 4/1

14:55 Lingfield - Ramo @ 8/1

Venetia Williams' horses didn't seem to be firing on all cylinders when RAMO failed to hit the heights on his chasing debut at Warwick a few weeks ago. With the yard going much better now, he can show much more than he did there in the feature staying chase at Lingfield.

This classy staying hurdler would have found 2m4f on good to soft ground much too sharp around there and an extra half-mile combined with much more testing terrain can prompt an improved performance.

This eight-year-old should strip fitter with that behind him and although he's late enough to the chasing game, he's certainly bred for it as a half-brother to the yard's star chaser Djelo.

The handicapper has generously dropped Ramo 4lb for his first effort over fences and Ned Fox's 3lb is a useful tool. He can go well.

17:00 Wolverhampton - Sun Festival @ 10/3

Joseph Parr's horses are also going well, and SUN FESTIVAL is fancied to be the trainer's latest winner at Wolverhampton following his 10-1 strike last week.

Sun Festival arrives in this classified race with leading claims. He was in excellent form last winter and, after a spell in the doldrums, produced his best performance since those days when dropped into this company for the first time in January.

The selection was always up with the pace from his wide draw and that race was respectable for the grade from a time perspective. He pulled nicely clear of the third and could take some pegging back from stall one if in the same heart.

Everything looks in place for a big effort from this previous course-and-distance winner under Danny Muscutt.

18:00 Wolverhampton - Lord Rapscallion @ 4/1

LORD RAPSCALLION bounced back to form in some style at Lingfield last month and is worth supporting to follow suit in the 7f handicap later at Wolverhampton.

The experienced nine-year-old had fallen a long way in the handicap before landing a touch at Lingfield, scoring with ease despite encountering a wide trip throughout from stall 11.

He is better positioned to take aim from stall three this time, and the form is working out excellently in any case. The fourth, eighth and ninth were all next-time-out winners at odds of 4-1, 9-2 and 6-1, and Lord Rapscallion is taken to do his bit for that formline.

He is up 7lb in the weights but has won off 20lb higher in his pomp, and his previous start at Wolverhampton was a highly creditable one, so the switch from Polytrack to Tapeta is of little concern.

Betfred will return your stake (up to £10) as a free bet if your selection in this race finishes 2nd.
