Ffos Las Racecourse

Flat racing holds sway in Britain and Ireland on Wednesday with six meetings taking place across the afternoon and into the summer evening. First off is Lingfield Park before they go at Yarmouth, Catterick Bridge, Kempton Park, Fairyhouse and Ffos Las.

My horse racing tips for Wednesday features one for trainer Rod Millman whose jockey booking is an eye-catching one for the grade.

Horse Racing Tips - Wednesday, July 10

  • 17:15 Ffos Las - Johnny Johnson @ 6/1
  • 17:30 Catterick - Arlington e/w @ 16/1
  • 19:10 Kempton - Uzinsco @ 5/2

17:15 Ffos Las - Johnny Johnson @ 6/1

Trainer Rod Millman has a 17 per cent strike-rate at Ffos Las in the last five years and it's very eye-catching that connections have booked the services of Oisin Murphy to ride JOHNNY JOHNSON in the opening 5f handicap.

Still winless after 10 career starts, the Due Diligence gelding has disappointed in four outings this year - including when well beaten after being dropped into this sort of level last time - finishing fourth in a 7f apprentice handicap at Salisbury.

Millman is now dropping him back to the minimum and although he will definitely need every yard of the trip, there should be enough pace on here for him to come home with a late rattle. He's tumbling down the weights which will be a big help.

Johnny Johnson to win the 17.15 Ffos Las at 6-1

17:30 Catterick - Arlington e/w @ 16/1

Likely to open an attractive price, an each-way chance is given to ARLINGTON in this 7f handicap at Catterick. If he is on a going day, he can take advantage of his good draw in stall five and leave his rivals trailing in his wake.

It's very difficult to make all at Newcastle given the stiff nature of the track but this boy did just that when winning there over 6f in March, and a sharp track like Catterick should really suit his running style.

Arlington has two ways of running but he had excuses when tailed off at Redcar last month as he missed the break completely, and he was very weak in the betting when disappointing at Thirsk latest. Still off a nice mark, this race could be ideal for him.

Arlington each-way for the 17.30 Catterick at 16-1

19:10 Kempton - Uzinsco @ 5/2

The final selection of the evening runs in the mile handicap at Kempton Park and it's a golden opportunity for UZINCSO to avenge his runner-up finish over 1m2f at Lingfield last time for trainer John Butler.

He was given a great ride by Luke Morris last time, taking up the lead once they turned into the straight, but he was passed out by Marion's Boy late on and possibly just hit the front too soon on the day.

Morris is aboard again here and he will probably hang onto him a little longer on this occasion. The drop in trip shouldn't be an inconvenience as all seven career wins have come over the mile and this strong traveller can find his way back to the winner's circle.

Uzinsco to win the 19.10 Kempton at 5-2
