Kempton jumps king george

There’s plenty of racing to enjoy on Tuesday, with no fewer than five meetings taking place across Britain and Ireland.

I've got three horse racing tips for consideration, all from Kempton - including a lightly-raced handicapper for Jamie Snowden who looks set to follow up.

Horse Racing Tips - Tuesday, April 1

  • 14:52 Kempton - Graham @ 15/8
  • 15:55 Kempton - Ideal Des Bordes @ 9/4
  • 16:30 Kempton - Lions Peak @ 6/4

14:52 Kempton - Graham @ 15/8

Gary & Josh Moore run GRAHAM here and this very lightly raced hurdler is showing signs that he’s going the right way. He was an absolute no-show in his first three starts over hurdles but those runs did achieve their purpose of getting him a handicap mark.

It was a much better display from the five-year-old on his handicap debut at Plumpton earlier this month, where he was significantly more competitive. The son of Time Test managed to finish third that day, although he was well backed, going off at 6/4.

A bad mistake at the fifth did have a significant impact on his momentum and he lost a considerable amount of ground, before recovering and keeping on to finish third. If cutting out mistakes and if improving again, he’ll surely have every chance of getting off the mark.

It’s worth noting that the handicapper has dropped him 2lb for that run, which can only help his chances, and he deserves another couple of chances in this sphere.

Place a win or each way single on any of this race. If your selection finishes 2nd we will give you your win stake back in Free Bets up to £10 to use on any Horse Racing market.

15:55 Kempton - Ideal Des Bordes @ 9/4

Nicky Henderson’s IDEAL DES BORDES was a winner on his chasing debut at Wincanton in January and the step up to 3m1f was clearly a big help to him. Better ground is also important to him so conditions look set to suit.

The form of that aforementioned Wincanton success has been boosted by the third, who managed to win next time, and it was a sign of things to come. He was keeping on when second by a length over course and distance next time and finished well ahead of the third.

Too bad to be true here over shorter last time out, we can expect a better performance now returning to three miles and the seven-year-old has since had wind surgery. We haven’t seen the best of this horse quite yet but a return to winning ways could be on the agenda.

Place a win single bet up to £50 on this race. If your selection wins, we will give you a 10% cash boost on top of your winnings!

16:30 Kempton - Lions Peak @ 6/4

LIONS PEAK didn’t show a great deal in bumpers but Jamie Snowden’s gelding is improving with every start over hurdles and he makes his handicap debut at Kempton.

Pulling up at Exeter in December, he took a big step forward from that to finish third at Wincanton and wasn’t beaten far. Good ground appeared to help when upped to 2m3½f at Hereford next time as he pulled clear to win by eight lengths, despite an error at the last.

Connections will surely be happy with an opening handicap mark of 107 on that evidence and the drop back in trip isn’t a big concern. His profile suggests further improvement is likely and he may not need to find much in order to follow up.
