Thursday’s Racing Tips: Auguste Lumiere to build on impressive stable debut

Flat racing holds sway across the UK and Ireland on Thursday with two meetings taking place, starting in the morning and running into the evening. First off is Lingfield before they go at Chelmsford, with jumps racing abandoned at Newbury, Catterick and Clonmel.
Amongst our Thursday fancies is one for trainer Claire Hobson who went close on stable debut and remains unexposed at staying trips.
Horse Racing Tips - Thursday, January 9
11:58 Lingfield - Epsom Faithfull @ 10/3
Over at Lingfield, course specialist EPSOM FAITHFULL can record a fifth win at the track, having bounced back to top form in recent weeks.
The daughter of Coach House has found improvement at the age of eight for a step up in trip, having done most of her racing at 7f and under in a 43 race career. She ran out a ready winner on her first attempt over today’s 1m2f on her penultimate start, defying odds of 100/1.
She proved that was no fluke when an eye-catching second over course and distance last time. Despite not getting a clear run she beat all bar the favourite, an unexposed three-year-old from the William Haggas yard. That appeals as good form for the grade and there could be further progress in her over this trip.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
19:00 Chelmsford City - The Outlaw @ 11/10
Ralph Beckett’s THE OUTLAW has an obvious chance at Chelmsford. He left his juvenile form behind when a good second on his handicap debut at Southwell last week, having been well supported in the market..
That effort came behind the progressive Whizz By, who completed a hat-trick in the process.
The Outlaw shaped as if he would come on for the run, still appearing green in front and could improve for this further step up in trip.
That appeals as strong form and this contest is easier, dropping back into Class 6 company. While he is drawn wide and there are a few unexposed rivals lining up, any further improvement should see The Outlaw get off the mark.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
20:30 Chelmsford City - Auguste Lumiere @ 7/4
AUGUSTE LUMIERE ran a cracker on his recent debut for Claire Hobson, only narrowly failing to get up behind the well-fancied favourite Mighty Nebula.
That run came over course and distance and he is clearly well suited to an artificial surface, with his best effort in Ireland coming at Dundalk when rated 77, behind a useful colt Keeper’s Heart.
He looks well up to defying his current rating of 68 and is entitled to step forward from his latest start having previously been off the track for 110 days. The son of Dawn Approach relished a return to 1m2f and he remains open to further improvement against mostly exposed rivals.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
