Horse Racing Tips: Komedy Kicks can have the last laugh at Ludlow

There are five race meetings to look out for across the UK and Ireland on Thursday. First off is the all-weather card at Newcastle before they go over jumps at Clonmel, Taunton and Ludlow.
The evening sees a switch back to the all-weather with a seven-race meeting from Chelmsford. Amongst our Thursday fancies is one for trainer Jack Channon that has shown some promise and could kick on now back on the all-weather.
Horse Racing Tips - Thursday, February 27
15:45 Ludlow - Komedy Kicks @ 13/8
Komedy Kicks has been in fine form this season with back-to-back wins in her last two outings.
She started this season off with a modest fourth at Ludlow, running well but always looking as though she needed the outing. However, she followed that up with two mightily impressive wins, first at Kelso and then at Catterick.
Both of her successes came when carrying top weight, but this did little to impact her as they were achieved from patient rides and slowly building momentum to hit the front at the right time.
The step up to three miles is a move into the unknown as she has never been tried over such a distance. However, she has shown that she has stamina, as well as pace and this improver has every opportunity here.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
16:10 Taunton - So Said I @ 9/2
Another that has been in decent form this season is the Joe Tizzard-trained So Said I.
She has yet to win this season but the manner in which she has run so far suggests that it is only a matter of time before she gets off the mark.
She has gone close with some strong runs at Warwick and Fakenham, but her eye-catching performance came in December at Cheltenham where she ran brilliantly from the front and was only just denied by the eventual winner.
She disappointed slightly last time out when pulling up at Plumpton, so it is interesting to see if the addition of cheek pieces can help on Thursday, but she always jumps well and if she is back to her best, she should be there or thereabouts.

20:30 Chelmsford - Urban Lion @ 11/4
The lightly raced four-year-old Urban Lion has been a bit of an enigma since making his debut last season, as he has indicated at times that he might not enjoy what he is doing, but on his day, has shown that he has a touch of class about him.
He made his debut in June at the July course and showed that he was very much a work in progress, as he was slowly out of the stalls, running very green through the early part of the race, while never being on terms with the leaders.
However, once he got the idea of what he was doing, he ran on well and made significant headway in the closing stages, showing that he has a bit about him.
He refused to enter the stalls on his next appearance and was promptly gelded soon after.
He returned to the track on the all-weather at Chelmsford and he delivered on his early promise with an impressive win. He was not entirely perfect that day but clearly enjoyed the artificial surface, finishing the race strongly in what was a promising effort.
He has not hit those heights since, putting in a trio of middling performances on turf, finishing close but not close enough to the winners.
It will be interesting to see him now back on the all-weather, and if he can replicate his run from last year, he should go well.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
