Thursday Racing tips: City Captain can dominate at Hamilton

Flat racing holds sway across the UK on Thursday, with five meetings taking place throughout the afternoon and into the evening. First off is Newmarket, before they go to Newcastle, Nottingham, Hamilton, and Leicester.
Amongst our Thursday fancies is one for Harriet Bethell, who, since joining the yard, has dominated two sprint races and has the potential to improve further.
Horse Racing Tips - Thursday, June 26
14:25 Newmarket - Miss Cartesian @ 5/2
Look out for Miss Cartesian at Newmarket, with the Ralph Beckett-trained filly set to thrive in what is her first time tackling 7f after two good races at 6f.
On her debut win last year at Wolverhampton, she stayed on powerfully inside the final furlong to beat a previous winner comfortably.
Then, last month, on her seasonal reappearance at Yarmouth, she was headed inside the final furlong but battled back to only go down by a neck.
That all suggests this trip of 7f should bring out the best in her, as she typically does her best work late on, which could make her very hard to beat.

15:45 Newcastle- Tribal Chief @ 5/1
David Menuisier’s gelding, Tribal Chief, looks poised to return to winning ways after a couple of near misses.
He was disappointing recently when never travelling in a 1m 2f race over in Longchamp, but that was his first time tackling that distance and competing outside of the UK, and given he is significantly better at 1m, it would be fair to ignore that run.
In his last two starts at 1m, he came second twice, and Bullet Point beat him both times. That form has substance, as Bullet Point was a close second in the Royal Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot last week.
Now returning to 1m and back in calmer waters, Tribal Chief should return to winning ways for the first time since triumphing at Yarmouth last year, when he comfortably beat recent Class 2 winner Urban Lion.

20:45 Hamilton - City Captain @ 1/1
Since leaving Sylvester Kirk and joining Harriet Bethell’s stable, City Captain has improved significantly.
On his debut for the yard, he comfortably scored in a 6f sprint at Pontefract. That form has substance, as the second, third, fifth, and 10th-placed horses have all won races at a similar grade since.
City Captain himself won again recently at Carlisle in impressive fashion, looking like the victor for most of the way.
He is 4lb well in today and will have no issue with the ground, all of which makes him a clear contender in what looks a relatively weak race.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
