Horse Racing Tips: Dosman the real deal at Newcastle

Flat racing holds sway across the UK on Thursday with five meetings taking place. Early starts are at Nottingham and Newmarket, with afternoon action on the all-weather at Newcastle, before they go at Hamilton and Leicester in the evening.
Among our Thursday fancies is one for trainer Jim Goldie who went close on his yard debut and remains unexposed as a sprinter.

15:12 Newcastle - Per Contra @ 4/1
William Haggas’ Eternal Force heads the market here, having returned from a short break with an excellent second at Hamilton, he is respected with the step up in trip a possible source of further improvement.
At a bigger price PER CONTRA is an interesting contender on his all-weather form, the son of Footstepsinthesands has recorded two wins and a third placed finish from his three starts on an artificial surface.
That includes a career best on Racing Post ratings, when hacking up over this course and distance in September from a 1lb higher mark.
He has shaped as if back in good form in turf handicaps in recent starts, including a third placed finish at Carlisle behind Oppertunity, who has since franked the form at Royal Ascot, taking the Duke of Edinburgh Handicap.
He receives plenty of weight from the likely favourite here and the return to an artificial surface can see him get back in the winner’s enclosure.

15:47 Newcastle - Dosman @ 4/1
Likely favourite Back to Black is entitled to plenty of respect, having made a promising seasonal debut in the Spring Cup, form that has worked out well and he was never ideally positioned at Lingfield last time.
However, at the prices, DOSMAN makes plenty of appeal, he is a dual winner on an artificial surface, and has filled the places a further five times from 10 starts on the all-weather.
His penultimate outing was particularly eye-catching, coming over this course and distance in the All Weather Championship Mile handicap. He finished an unlucky fourth on that occasion having been denied a clear run behind smart operator Tyrrhenean Sea.
The second has boosted the form by filling in the same position in the Royal Hunt Cup last week and Dosman makes plenty of appeal from the same mark here.

19:30 Hamilton - Gangsta Man @ 15/2
GANGSTA MAN nearly made the perfect start for Jim Goldie when narrowly beaten in the Scottish Sprint Cup at Musselburgh in April, in behind a well handicapped rival in Pilgrim, while the third and fourth placed horses have since boosted that form.
He had excuses over 7f at Newmarket next time and returned to form at Thirsk on his most recent outing. Back over a stiff 5f here, he could have his optimal conditions and looks well weighted from 1lb higher than his near miss at Musselburgh.
The son of Dandy Man remains lightly raced over sprint trips having mainly contested races over further when trained in Ireland.
