Horse Racing Tips: Time For Sandals in the Lowther

Plenty more racing action is in store on Thursday with seven meetings across Britain and Ireland. The main dish is from York on day two of the Ebor Festival, while Racing League action comes from Newcastle in the evening. They also go at Leopardstown in the evening while all-weather fare is from Lingfield and Chelmsford and there are National Hunt meetings at Newton Abbot and Killarney.
Our three horse racing tips for Thursday include Time For Sandals in the Lowther at York after she caught the eye doing good late work in Newbury's Super Sprint last month.
Horse Racing Tips - Wednesday, August 22
13:50 York – Time For Sandals @ 10/1
There's no doubt that the presence of unbeaten Leovanni for Karl Burke and the Aidan O'Brien-trained Heavens Gate will take up a large chunk of the market. They are exciting fillies and should both have a major say in this Group 2 but there is some merit in TIME FOR SANDALS as an alternative at double-figure odds.
The Harry Eustace-trained daughter of Sands Of Mali ran on strongly from the rear to open her account at the first time of asking in a Kempton Polytrack maiden over 6f in June.
She was aimed at Newbury's Super Sprint last month on her second start and, dropping to 5f, was doing all her best work near the finish as she closed to be a never-nearer half-length third in that competitive race.
Relief Rally won that Newbury contest last summer before adding this prize and, with less experience under her belt, Time For Sandals offered plenty of encouragement. She looks a sure-fire improver as she goes back up in trip.

15:00 York – Aragon Castle @ 11/1
The ultra-competitive Clipper Handicap over a mile at York is a chance for punters to take advantage of Betfred's Extra Place terms, with the first five home paid each-way.
ARAGON CASTLE is one of only two three-year-olds in the 19-runner field and, as such, Andrew Balding's 92-rated gelding carries a handy racing weight of 8st 5lb under Hayley Turner.
He has been in consistent form this summer, following a pair of runner-up finishes at Haydock and Goodwood over this mile trip with a convincing all-the-way success at Hamilton early last month.
From there he went to Glorious Goodwood at the start of this month, upped to 1m2f for the first time, but his chance was badly compromised when he stumbled leaving the starting stalls and lost ground.
In the circumstances, he did well to finish fifth, beaten just over two lengths. He runs off the same mark now and isn't done progressing just yet, particularly back at this trip.
Betfred will return your stake (up to £10) as a free bet if your selection in the 15:00 finishes 2nd.
This is a Extra Place Race, with 5 places on offer instead of 4 at 1/5 the odds.

16:10 York – Sea Just In Time @ 6/4
William Haggas's string are in sparkling form, entering this meeting with a 33 per cent strike-rate from more than 40 runners in recent weeks.
The trainer won this Listed Sir Henry Cecil Galtres Stakes with Sea Theme 12 months ago and can oblige again with SEA JUST IN TIME.
She looked above average when taking a maiden at Newmarket (1m2f, good) on her debut in May and may have found Goodwood wasn't to her liking when failing to build on that in Listed company next time.
After a break, she carried a 7lb penalty in a Kempton all-weather novice this month and readily dismissed an 88-rated rival. She is well worth another go in this grade on a track that ought to suit as Haggas and Tom Marquand go for back-to-back wins in this race.
