Horse Racing Tips: 5/2 Park leads Thursday’s fancies

There’s an even mix of National Hunt and all-weather Flat fare across Britain’s four meetings on Thursday, although there’s no Irish representation on the day. Southwell’s nine-race card kicks us off, before Exeter and Ffos Las and then Chelmsford in the evening.
One of my horse racing tips for the day is a Ben Pauling-trained novice chaser who is taken to get off the mark in this sphere.
Horse Racing Tips - Thursday, December 19
13:55 Exeter - Toss Of A Coin @ 10/3
Paul Nicholls’ TOSS OF A COIN could be worth looking out for here, as he’s very lightly raced under rules, especially in handicaps. He made the perfect start to his career under rules when winning a novice hurdle here last year.
Whilst the form of that win is a bit of a mixed bag, his stablemate Kruger Park, who was well beaten back in fourth, won a couple of starts later and the 43-length fifth won a maiden hurdle by 25 lengths subsequently.
He then followed up under a penalty at Newbury, although that was an abnormally weak novice hurdle. Disappointing on handicap debut at Wincanton in April, the yard’s runners weren’t going particularly well at the time and that can be forgiven.
It was a much better effort on chase debut at Uttoxeter last month, where he was second by half-a-length, and further progress seems likely. Nicholls’ horses almost always improve for fences and this gelding should be no different.
This is a Super Extra Place race, meaning that Betfred are paying 4 Places instead of 3 (1/5 Odds).

14:30 Exeter - Into The Park @ 5/2
INTO THE PARK clearly needed the run when well beaten in the Silver Trophy at Chepstow last time out and the drop in grade should also help his cause.
Phillip Hobbs & Johnson White’s gelding has since been dropped 2lb by the handicapper and that leaves him on a mark which is just 3lb higher than his last winning one.
Getting off the mark in good style in a maiden hurdle at Newbury in January, several subsequent winners have come out of that race and he followed up on handicap debut at Taunton after that.
This five-year-old is better than he’s been able to show in his last couple of starts and a return to winning ways should be on the agenda sooner rather than later.
