Horse Racing Tips: Romeiu to add to Redcar success

A mixture of Flat and jump racing across the UK and Ireland on Thursday with six meetings taking place, with York’s Dante festival taking centre stage.

First off is Salisbury before they go at York and Perth. Racing continues in the evening at Clonmel, Fontwell and Kempton. Among our horse racing tips for Thursday is one for trainer Adrian Keatley who made a winning start for connections and is open to further improvement.

14:42 York - Romieu @ 11/2

There are plenty of familiar names in the mile handicap (14:42) at York, with the likes of Cruyff Turn, Northern Express and Blue For You regulars in this contest. However, ROMEIU is an eyecatching runner for Adrian Keatley.

Having reached a useful level of form in a couple of starts for Andre Fabre in France, he made a winning start for these connections at Redcar last month. The bare form of that race needs improving on but it was hard not to be impressed by the manner of victory and he has had this meeting as the target.

He proved his effectiveness on fast ground with that performance and a mark of 90 could underestimate this Lope De Vega gelding. He looks likely to improve further after just three starts and is well drawn for an attacking ride.

15:13 York - See The Fire @ 10/11

SEE THE FIRE has excellent claims of making it two wins from two starts at York in the Group 2 Middleton Stakes. Andrew Balding’s filly landed her biggest victory at the course last season by winning a Group 3.

She also proved she could compete at the highest level when narrowly denied by Opera Singer in last year's Nassau Stakes before finishing the season with a big run against the boys in the Champion Stakes at Ascot.

The daughter of Arabian Queen, who won the Judmontee International over this course and distance, ought to be tough to beat down in grade and back against her own sex, with her reappearance run behind her.

20:30 Kempton - Ata Rangi @ 5/1

ATA RANGI made a successful first start for Ed Walker in April over this course and distance and can make a bold bid to follow up here.

A 4lb rise looks manageable for that convincing win and he has a better draw in stall two this time. He remains in the same class and is entitled to improve on that, given it came after a 175-day absence.

He should have further progress to come after seven starts and remains unexposed on artificial surfaces. His yard is in good form too.
