Sedgefield scaled

All the racing on Thursday comes from the UK after Thurles was once again forced to abandon due to a lack of rainfall!

Jumps action comes from Taunton, Market Rasen and Sedgefield in the afternoon, while there is evening racing on the Polytrack at Chelmsford. We've got three selections to follow from the afternoon's racing over the obstacles.

Today's Horse Races

12:05 Sedgefield – Love True @ 11/4

The Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero team were on the mark in the opener at Bangor-on-Dee on Wednesday and may well bag the curtain-raiser here.

Their filly, LOVE TRUE, had plenty of experience, including a couple of wins on the Flat in France and improved on each of her three starts over hurdles after arriving in Britain last season.

The most recent of those saw her finishing third in a Huntingdon novice (2m, good) in April behind a subsequent winner and a useful Dan Skelton inmate in Rock House.

Any improvement on that bare form may well prove good enough here and with the yard amongst the winners, she looks a good shout.

On reflection, Hughie Morrison's EYED had a thankless task at Wincanton (2m4f, good) 18 days ago when attempting to concede 23lb to Camino Rocio.

The winner was sporting a first-time visor and made all, jumping well, to score on his first start after leaving Henrietta Knight.

A 7lb rise in the weights wasn't enough to prevent him scoring again at Huntingdon this week, beating another in-form sort in Lunar Ocean for trainer Billy Aprahamian.

Eyed, meanwhile, had undergone wind surgery prior to that first run after leaving Paul Webber and was back after nearly six months off. He should be sharper for the appearance and races from an unchanged mark now. He meets quite a few out-of-sorts rivals here and should be good enough to go one better.

The Enjoy Your Christmas Party At The Races Handicap Hurdle looks a solid opening for EAST EAGLE after the son of Derby winner Wings Of Eagles was second-best over course and distance last month.

The step up in trip appeared to work well there after three unconvincing runs over 2m4f.

The Dan Skelton-trained Queens Venture won that contest in ready fashion and followed up at Southwell a week later.

East Eagle remains unexposed both as a hurdler and over this extended trip and he might be up to defying this mark with Aaron Anderson again claiming 5lb.
