Horse Racing Tips: Newcastle specialist seeks 10th course win

Five meetings take place across the UK and Ireland, with jumping at Limerick, Newton Abbot, and Hereford - while flat fare comes from the all-weather tracks at Lingfield and Newcastle.
I've studied the various cards and landed on a few horse racing tips for the afternoon - including a course specialist up in the North East.
Horse Racing Tips - Thursday, April 10
- 14:10 Newton Abbot - Yes Indeed @ 8/11
- 15:10 Hereford - Tropical Talent @ 10/3
- 17:00 Newcastle - Cusack @ 4/1

14:10 Newton Abbot - Yes Indeed @ 8/11
Just three go to post in the opener at Newton Abbot - Famoso, Dexter and Yes Indeed.
Dexter struggled in his last race, finishing behind Famoso, and it’s hard to see him getting involved here so it looks like this race is set to be between Famoso and Yes Indeed.
The preference is for the Martin Keighley-trained Yes Indeed, who got off the mark on these shores at Stratford last time out.
He looked a promising recruit from France a few years ago, having won a Listed race and ran respectably in a Grade One, but he failed to live up to the hype and was unable to deliver to his opening mark of 142.
Yes Indeed has since dropped 30lb, which he capitalised on at Stratford, and looked fairly classy in doing so - always having favourite Non Stop beaten.
He’s gone up 6lb for that win, but that shouldn’t be an issue here, as he’s the class act in the race.
A clear round of jumping should be enough for him to follow up his Stratford success.

15:10 Hereford - Tropical Talent @ 10/3
The Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero trained Tropical Talent, looks primed for Hereford after finishing third last time out on his first run following a break.
He’s very much a summer horse who relies on quick ground, so isn’t one to be seen during the winter months. His last win came under similar circumstances last year—finishing fourth on his comeback run before scoring at Sedgefield on his second start back.
Tropical Talent failed to build on that through the rest of the season, which saw his mark drop, and he now runs off a pound lower than for that Sedgefield win.
The main danger looks to be Pittsburg, who opened his account last time out. The nine-year-old had looked a winner in waiting for some time and duly justified favouritism.
However, he’s been beaten on both previous visits to Hereford, whereas Tropical Talent looks better suited to the track and will arrive fresher.
This is an Extra Place Race, meaning that Betfred will pay 3 Places (1/5 Odds) rather than 2. T&Cs apply.

17:00 Newcastle - Cusack @ 4/1
Cusack landed back-to-back wins when scoring here again over seven furlongs; that was his ninth win at Gosforth Park so the track clearly suits him, and he’s back here to try and get his 10th course win, this time over one mile and two furlongs.
This trip isn’t new to Cusack, having won over it in 2023 and 2022. He’s fairly close to his ceiling, being just a pound off his highest winning mark, so a top performance will be required.
However, he should benefit from race fitness, with all but two of his rivals running for the first time this year.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
